I'm sure I'm not the only one that tried this.
Today I was hunting in a 0.4 sector, and stumble upon 2x Blood Loaders. Hurray I think, this will be fun. I kill the escorts and then start moving forward against the Blood Loaders.
Then I started wondering, they kept staying at the same range, even though I approach them faster than they move. But I guess that's okay cause I lock them and start firing my missiles.
The haulers were at 40 km, and my Caracal should be able to shoot enemies at 40 km at least. Anywho, my missiles hit nothing but air. I notice that the Haulers have no models, they look like an asterisk in the target lock.
Is this something that's being worked on or? It's been around since the NPC Mining Ops came in and is quite annoying.
Another thing that's quite annoying is that NPC Commanders suddenly despawn, not just warp away, but disappear entirely. It's okay they warp, but they shouldn't disappear :<

Same problem here. 3 of my corpmates had a heavily guarded mining op spawn, with aditional 7 cruisers warping in. I went straight for the haulers in a Tempest, but despite using a mwd they kept a 182km distance. I said what the hell and started shooting. I killed him with no problems (my locking range is 65km and optimal for 1400mm 35km). Later my corp mate told me i was 11km from him. So yeah, something's broken ----------------------------

I was having the same issue... image not loading.... staying at same distance no matter with mwd or not... Anyhow, I managed to take out some blood harvesters in a .5 just because I warped within firing range. They appear to be dropping refined ore .

It's a known problem: no models for most NPC haulers and bugged distance for all of them.
Just keep an eye on your distance to the other NPC's the haulers will generally stay with the other NPC's in the spawn. Maybe using the range scanner instead of autoscanner will help as well. _______________________________________________

CCP just couldn't be bothered to actualy implement a ship for these haulers. FFS they could just place a iteron or bestower there if they don't have specific models made yet... no wonder they are bugged.
My words are my own and do not represent the views of my corp. |

I've had this happen two times now. Its got to be a bug and as such submit bug reports or petitions. Don't expect anything to be done by posting in the forums, send it to the proper place and we might get a fix this decade.
