So far the cats seem to respond better, with their shorter lifespan. Subject Z121(3095) is making great progress. She is playing chess at a master level, and despite 5 escape attempts and several deaths among the staff I anticipate some excellent results with her. Unfortunately she is nowhere to be found. If you see a pure black kitty, weighing about 180 pounds. Walking upright, with an enlarged head please contact the government.

The 'ghey' thing started because people were far too worried about upsetting homosexuals by the word having a double meaning. Trouble is, re-spelling the word is closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. The link has been made, any offence will have been taken, and the word is in common usage to mean both homosexual and weak. This sort of thing happens all the time with language. It's like how some white people have taken to the idea that spelling [a certain ethnic slur usually ending -er but now ending with an -a] is somehow acceptable, and allows them to use it in an ironic sense, but its original form is repellant and evil. I'm sorry, but spelling something differently is not going to stop someone being offended. It's wooly thinking at its best. It's not the word the carries the offence, but the meaning. If you don't want to offend someone, don't use the word at all. People are notorious for missing the intended humour in a statement, as this thread demonstrates. Try telling an angry homosexual you just offended that you spelled it differently, and therefore it had a different meaning, and see if they care.

"Gay" is actually supposed to be "carefree", "cheerful", "festive". As in "Don we now our GAY apparel, fa la la la la la la la la" At least that's what it meant until we twisted the meaning into something else. Same with that other demeaning phrase that we use to refer to homosexuals. That one actually used to refer to firewood that is laying on the ground.
