True, but I think most people here are telling the truth. Because for most, there is no incentive or reason to lie. |

I would point out that we're not sampling the entire game population here. By Krixtal's blatantly incorrect assumptions, the average age would probably be 20.
I have met 2 people younger than me in this game, and I'm 21 so I have a feeling that it is much closer to 30 than 20. |

At least they are related; it's not like he threw up a PHD in Astrophysical Egineering or something. The thing that gets me, is that he is both a soldier and a Vice President Otherwise I might believe it.
The soldier is not that hard to believe if you understand the military system in the US. I'm a reservist - meaning one weekend a month and two weeks a year. I joined the Army at 17, used it to pay for my education (all of it), to give me experience that I could leverage into a civilian career. After active duty I landed a job as a sourcing manager with GE, then parlayed that into another job, so on and so forth. I've stayed in the reserves, because I enjoy it. I'm on my 3rd enlistment in fact. So that is how I am both a soldier and VP. The VP position came in January. It's a junior position, but it's nice to be in the executive band. I could stop getting degrees by now, since the military experience, the veteran status, and my civilian resume mean that I can basically command whatever job I want. But it's free with my reserve benefits, so I see no reason to stop educating myself, especially if I have time (I take online courses in the evening). My final degree will assure me a very technical overview of business and perhaps a boardroom position in 10 to 15 years. |

Most people who responded are not even frequent forum posters, why would they care enough to lie?

You might be right, but it has been my experience that people on the internet tend to embelish their personal occupations and history at the very least, if not outright lie about it. Some do tell the truth without a doubt, and kudos to them for doing so, whether their real occupation is something special or dull and ordinary like mine.
The reason is simple. People often feel insecurity over their jobs and life and want to make it look better or see what it is like to have people see them as something different. There is always something to gain, and it doesn't have to be anything tangible.
Anyway.. fun thread. Have at it then. Alliance Auction - EVE Rogues: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1215438#post1215438 |
