I have a 2 gig RAM machine. I had problems prior to this patch which were fixed by editing the prefs.ini file. Something in there used to let me allocate a certain amount of memory to each client.
I'm not sure what one can do now. Two clients run perfectly. However a third does not render things properly and has a very low frame rate. Used to have this prior to the prefs.ini fix.
Anyone play with their prefs.ini?
Thx

2 gig of ram Core Duo E8400 @ 3.6Ghz 8800 GTS 320mg
seems to work when I put everything down to 15 bit.

If I remember right, you can set your memory usage in game now.
But I say go 64 bit with 4 gigs of ram. Solves everything. ---

I would seriously consider to upgrading to 4gb, it will help a lot, and RAM is cheap these days.

You might try separate installs for each of the accounts too.
If you can expand your RAM though as the others say 4 GB of RAM would probably fix the problem.

Your signature is too large. Please resize it to a maximum of 400 x 120 with the file size not exceeding 24000 bytes. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Mitnal |

Edited by: Contralto on 15/03/2009 10:30:21 Another possibility is a shortage of video ram, I have 2 clients running on 2 monitors with a GTX260 886 meg card. atm I am looking at the "Rivatuner" on screen display which is showing 717 megs of video ram used.
All settings maxed, one screen at 1440x900 the other 1920x1200, Windowed mode no AAA.
Main ram usage is 1650 megs but that's with a boatload of stuff in the tray. ________________________________________________________________

4GB minimum. Seriously. Even for 2x clients. The difference is massive.

With the new client working so well with multiple instances open, I just run em. 2-4 almost all the time maxed out.
Of course I have a quadcore 2.5ghz (or something) with 8gb ddr4 ram and all that jazz... --------

You still need a 64 bit OS installed, and considering he has 2GB right now, it is unlikely.

If he's running a 32bit OS - he will not be able to use much more than 3GB.
