hi. i got all the skills i needed to use my mining drone but im stuft if i no how to make them go do work. do you carry them round in you cargo hold or what. how do these things work.

Put the drones in the drone bay. Some ships do not have a drone bay, and therefor cannot use drones.

Um... how about a Frigate? Is that low-tech enough ;) (Tip: Look at Gallente ones)

All of the Rookie ships can carry a drone. The Gallente can carry two.
You need to open your drone bay in station and put the drones in it.
Once you do that, you can leave station and go to the nearest belt.
Target a rock.
You will have a new little window on your HUD called drones. Right click on the top listing showing the drones in your ship and select Launch Drones. You will then see whatever drones you have buzzing about your ship. With the asteroid you want to mine selected, right click on the Drones in Space and select Mine Repeatedly. The drones will then go back and forth between your ship and the rock until either the rock is gone, your hold is full or you right click on Drones in space and select Return to Drone Bay.
Combat drones have a different set of commands but you launch them the same way. You can also right click on the drones in you drone bay and organize them into different groups. With 2 drones in a Rookie ship that doesn't matter but larger ships can carry a lot more. Covetors and Hulks for example can carry a combination of mining and scout drones totaling ten. So you can make two groups Mining Drones and Combat Drones, the right click on those groups and select Launch Drones to only launch drones from those groups.
Just play around with it some.
OBTW, make sure you get Drone Interfacing trained up to Level V. It takes a while but you really get a lot out of it as it makes the drones much more effective.

No. Industrials can't carry drones. Look under the Item Database off to the left of this screen and it will show you the characteristics of the ships. If it doesn't list drones - it can't carry any.
