OK, I scanned out a few wormholes over the last couple of days. On arrival at the wormhole entrances I found that there have been a number of different identifiers - for example R943, Z(something or other) and K162 being a common one. I did all my scanning in hisec as I am merely practising at the moment.
Do the identifiers mean anything? Does the letter tally up with difficulty or loot quality?
I ask because the K162 holes seem very easy to find, while the Z hole took me about 15 mins and I had to use 6 probes on max strength/short range in order to get a 100% hit.

"K162" means "Wormhole class is the same as the class of the space you are getting in from, ie highsec, lowsec, 0.0"

Thanks for the reply. I assume that the higher the class of wormhole, the higher the difficulty = better rewards (or quicker deaths)? ;)

Yep. Look for names of anomalies inside: Perimeter easiest, Frontier harder, but no scramble, Core - deadly. :) Level 6 is the hardest wormhole.

I think you are wrong about K162. From what I've observed, K162 is the wormhole that is the exit of the one being used. Whatever wormhole you go through, it will be K162 on the other end. If you found a K162, it means someone already scanned the other side and went though, spawning that K162 wormhole. *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. My impression was a K wormhole was only found in known space, a U wormhole in unkown and the others just linked regular systems. Maybe the numbers indicate the system you will travel to but who knows?

I have not found any indication of what different letters mean, besides the fact that the only deadly w-space I found had V753 leading into it - never seen a V before.
I guarantee that every wormhole that is not K162 will have K162 on the other side of it. It can't be that all wormholes I've scanned so far had this by coincidence. *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. Yep, you probably are right about K162.

Now I'm more confused
Spent Sunday in WH from .8 (and to .8 on the other door), and the exit was labeled N110, which according to the graphic is a Level 7 - is that correct? In other words, the WH jump point (from inside W space) was labeled N110 and it jumped to a .8 system 12 jumps away but still in Amarr space. Both entrances, as usual were K162's.
There was a Perimeter Ambush there (fairly simple to solo in a Nighthawk, but the Sirius hit HARD LOL), a whole bunch of grav sites and belts with some very nice hemorphite and hedbergite (and lots of other stuff - but those were the highest I ran into) which come up as Frontier Deposits with additional clues like Common, Rare, Ordinary, Unremarkable or whatever - there seems to be some correlation between the named rarity and the number of roids, but needs more research.
So anyway, my question is that if 6 is the hardest, and this was a 7 (either of which may be wrong), how can it be accessible from .8 systems on both sides (or 2 of the sides - could have been more WHs out - lots of stuff to scan), and the only site that shows up on initial scan as green and warpable be so easy?
Is the 'class' of the W space indicative of the difficulty, or of the content? (Quality v. quantity) Cuz there was LOTSO stuff in there, but I never saw anything very scary - aside from local, destination and map functions totally believing that 'uncharted' stuff and refusing to work. It is funny to have 21645872348746 jumps back home though (until the WH closes - then probably not so much ).
And what's the deal with the WHs that just jump you to another place in safe space? Shortcuts? He said I never listen to him ... (or something like that)

Class 1s are hardest. Class 6s are easiest.
The closer you get to the middle of sleeper space, the harder it becomes, or at least, that's bee my experience.
Class 7, 8, and 9 wormholes lead to known space.

I think you were'nt in a class 6 system. The fact that you found 2 N110 wormholes in your w-system doesn't tell you anything about the class of the system itself but about the DESTINATION system the wormholes lead to, in this case class 7 (which means: Highsec, because class 7 is Highsec, class 8 is Lowsec and class 9 is 0.0 of known space).
Also my experience is that there is no fixed relation between the classes of systems a wormhole can link. (Perhaps some probability factors.) At least until now I have reached class 1 and also class 5 w-space systems from highsec.

Edited by: Cyndal on 16/03/2009 17:33:53 Ya I get it now (or more anyway) - ^^^^ up there was a note that said class 6 were the hardest and it threw me off.
From within the WH, the exits back to K space were N110, and landed you in .8, so I was thinkin WTH? A jump into .8 is a 7 on a scale of 1-6?
1 being hardest makes sense - especially when looking at the graphic.
THIS IZ the graphic I meant.
He said I never listen to him ... (or something like that)

So we know their are 3 types of wormholes.Unknown, Dangerous and Deadly.
However I am looking at a "dangerous" one but the class designator from the link in the OP says it is a class 5.
My question is which one is more accurate? Are their class 1-6 difficulty levels with each of the 3 "types" (ie Unknown class 1-6, Dangerous class 1-6 Deadly class 1-6)

I don't think that's right. I will try it out later to be sure, but I am almost positive it's not right. I remember my first couple of WHs had a BXXX exit but not a K162 entrance.

You have it backwards. And I got a dangerous class 5 and deadly class 6 to prove it.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |
