Ok, this idea would take a bit of work on the part of the devs, but I don't see any reason that it wouldn't work. First, they set up a 'sting' account, go to one of the sites that sells isk and buy some, smallest amount possible or whatever. Obviously the person that delivers the money would be an alt, but that alt had to have gotten the money from somewhere, and that can be traced, then they can ban the account that supplied the 100 mil or whatever that they got. Since those accounts have to be efficient money-makers they are either high-level mission runners or miners with expensive barges and so forth, so losing those accounts would actually hurt the operation, since it represents months of invested time in SP training. All they have to do is hurt the sellers enough that buying PLEX and selling it is a cheaper way to make isk than buying it directly, and the spammers will be out of business.

ban all trial accounts from posting in all public channels ( local help etc) isk spamemrs take advantage of the trial accounts either that or require a credit card to trial.
Real players i think dont really use trial accounts these days they are limited so its probably isk spammers anyway no loss

The whole point though is to hurt the spammers without hurting the real trial account players that might be turned off by the harsh security. Also the channels that are spammed most, help and local, are the ones where new players on trial accounts ask questions. If you destroy their ability to make money by banning the isk-farming accounts then they won't be able to sustain their low prices with trial accounts only, and people will sell PLEX instead.

ah well not sure what ccp can do then. Other option is a limit of 40-50 posts per day on trial accounts in help or local channel. Allows people to talk - trial account peeps could be advised of this when signing up
Private channels unaffected

It won't work this way because that ISK you get from them has been laundried multiple Times already, you can't retrace it without an immensive Amount of work and Chartflipping.

I agree that it would be alot of work for the devs, but it actually wouldn't be so hard, even if the money passed through ten alts before reaching the deliverer, that's only ten clicks to follow the money trail, and since it probably comes from multiple sources, you would get several of the farming accounts at once. This is how real police investigate organized crime, just follow the money trail until you reach the source, but in this case, CCP has a database of every transaction and you can't hide anything from them, making it even easier.

You think that. Successfull crimelords have a net, not a rope.
Your Post implys you think the isk is sent a -> b -> c -> buyer, but I believe it is more like a -> b -> c -> a -> d -> b -> c -> e -> ..., for multiple... "Customers" at once, so this makes it almost impossible to track Transactions. It's easy to track if ISK is delivered through donating, and that's why I doubt it's done that way. I came to the conclusion they transfer ISK through faked market orders, making the buyer look dumb like a jacka** - I don't know how they "deliver", tho.
To be honest, I don't even care.

With all due respect, I keep hearing this same excuse about 'hurting the trial account players being turned off by harsh security...' keeping trial accounts to a "Local Trial Chat" and "Help Chat" is NOT harsh security. It's just 'containing' them in their own chat, which paying players can join if they want to. Which is basically the same as it is now ... your just adding a new chat area for 'local paying customers' so they have the option to view that one instead ...
Let's just look at it this way: Let's leave the trial accounts alone for now. Let's just request to have a secondary local channel for paying customers only. Hardly a harsh security tactice. Thoughts?

I prefer the idea of a simple setting:
1 - Show all trial account comms in public. 2 - Hide all trial account comms in public.
When the comms are hidden, you still see the player name come up, but their text is replaced by *****, which acts similar to a link; right click the link, and 'show this message' or 'show all messages from this person' options come up.
That way, you can always see if a trial is trying to say something, and if you care what they have to say, you can still read the message.

I like the idea of chat for trials. A trial can see any usual chat but can't write into it, but can form his own chat so he can get in a corp or chat with paying players. Something like that. Just don't let them post in any chat, but only in predefined ones.

I firmly agree.
You could even add one more layer of filtering for the veterans that don't want anything to do with the trial accounts when they visit major trade hubs. I think we could have 3 simple 'filter settings' on all chat windows. 1 - Show all trial account comms in public. 2 - Completely hide all trial account comms in public. (With an option of 'show all messages from this person') 3 - Substitute all trial account comms in public with a common '***' link to message. (With an option of 'show all messages from this person')
I like it. The filter is definately the way to go.

To stop spam flooding, CCP should be able to easily add a client-side character difference test, say with a threshold of 50%, to the spam flooding delay timer.
How do the ISK spammers get business? Every single spam I've seen has a URL.
When an avatar is reported as an ISK spammer, or when a site is confirmed ask an ISK selling site, then that site could be flagged on the server side. When a URL is typed into chat, CCP could the log account name and site. All accounts which mentioned that ISK selling site could be muted from public channels until end of trial. The remaining paid accounts could be filtered into a report for CCP staff to review.

I've personally thought of this as a solution myself. It's amazing to me how little it takes to discourage someone from checking out a website. Go to "www iskspammer com" won't be enough to make all of them unprofitable but it'll put a large dent in their traffic.
Even if they only use the curent reporting instead of an automated detection system, the ISK link banning would still be effective.
IMO firewalling IPs (they can't connect to the server from that adderss anymore) that have been associated with posting links to ISK-selling sites more than 3 times would discourage most of them too. Won't help too much for people on a dynamic IP ISP but most tend to have long enough lease times to make it worthwhile. ***************

* As stated before I think that those Spamers have Random IPs, so it would be pointless.
* Any URL Filter will be dodged this or that way. Currently they write "visit i s k s p a m m . c o m" or something along that line.

basically its the same but hidden cutting of trial accounts making them unable to communicate because everyone block them due to much ISK-trial-spam. The effect on real trials would be the same if not even worse due to the dishonest way excluding them from the public.

My idea? EVE has own fault with too-easy-trial registration page.
I have tested trial registration page with false email and names, and i'm surprised it works very easy. I can join the game with false data.
That means the security and verification of trial registration page is very poor. Only basic check on email configuration. Even email [email protected] is accepted.
Why is there no CAPTCHA and email code verification like many forums? Why is it so easy accesible? You can write a bot to fill in automatically in the trial registration, then the bot can join already the game with so much ease, auto-create player & name and finally post ISK spam in all public channels. Then the bot leaves the game or keep posting until name is banned or so. No problem, try again with new false trial account, and here we go again...
I'm pretty sure EVE has made one of the big errors with too-easy-trial-registration page without good verification on legal email. Stealing EVE account is not really needed for ISK spam, because trial registration works too!
EVE, what have you done? This is really stupid without verifcation steps. You make only the isk spammers too easy!
