Edited by: Anton Koffield on 17/08/2004 07:19:13 Hey, hey. Just started this, and I was really confused during the character creation. Shoulda read the boards first... Been reading about how important the different attributes are, and now I'm kinda worried. My base stats were: Mem - 7 Int - 8 Per - 8 Char - 7 WP - 10
Will this be allright? I'd rather not re-roll... spent a bunch of money (noob money so it's alot to me:) on skills...
Any feedback would be greatly apprecitated.

thats about average i'd say, just buy the learning skills and some implants when you can and you'll eventually have skills in the high teens.

This is a nice spread. I think today it's better to have an even spread of attributes than before, as they have been modifying what attributes are primary and secondary for various skill groups.
Just start training Learning ASAP and all the learning skills, go for level 4 at least and if you plan on playing for over a year, go the whole way to level 5.

Yeah Riddari is correct. Get those learning skills up there first and foremost!

I got lucky and had some advice starting up. I am a pure combat pilot and because of that with training up my attributes my willpower and perception are 18 and I don't have implants (hell I don't even have the skill). So I guess for an all around character you're fine. For me however I need to stick to combat and little else.

Get learning skills up yes but would suggest get them to level 4 first and then train some skills you want to get.
If you want to have fun in game dont go for level 5 learning yet, remember a game is about fun.

Even a pure fighter needs memory and intel at a decent level. Just look at engineering and electronics skill tree. Every pure fighter would take forever to train those important skill areas , even with really high percep and willpower.
Your Mega Afocal Pulse Maser I perfectly strikes Asteroid (Veldspar) [R0ME], wrecking for 798.3 damage.
Your 425mm Railgun I perfectly strikes Guardian Captain, wrecking for 685.9 damage.

Anyone who wants to armor tank, not to mention use lasers as well, needs really high Engineering skills.
Good luck getting there with 3 and 4 base attributes
The pure fighter with high perception and willpower can do lots of damage, but is lacking in defensive areas.

your atributes look pretty good to me ,its always nice to have an even spread of atribute's as you never know what skill's ccp will be adding in the future and you can try all the aspects of eve without worrying about it taking ages to train something because you stacked all your point's on the same 2 atribute's

Thanks for all the feedback on this guys!
Had no idea what those attributes were for when I was doing it. Good to see I didn't hamstring myself.
Training all the leaning skills up, then hopefully I know where I'm going with all of this.
Thanks again, you guys rock

yeah atleast you didn't manage to do what i did whichj was waste some attribute points on charisma. I have high charisma at the cost of will power.
By the time I found out what is important it was a bit late to do anything about it.

I still don't think anybody got as shafted as me:
Intelligence 16 Perception 15 Charisma 18 Willpower 20 Memory 15
Been playing since 2 weeks after release and I am primarily a fighter character. I've only just passed 14 million skill points.
So until we get some decent/useful skills that have Willpower or Charisma as the primary attribute I'm getting F'd in the A on a daily basis by CCP because they still havn't balanced attribute use for skills. Int and Mem still rule. Will and Cha still suck ass. __________________

Unless your character is a highly specialised industrial or science character (a job relegated to alts in most cases, something i find kinda sad) you want a good spread. At the moment, the most important attributes are intelligence, memory and perception, although this may change in the future. Willpower is useful only as a secondary attribute, and charisma is just for social and corporate skills.
