The Scanner Circle:
The Scanner Circle is just a visual aid like the tactical overlay. Nothing more. Precisely the same mechanic currently used is merely visually presented on screen. This takes out some of the guess work in trying to decide if your cone is actually facing the target instead of using the current ôSmall Square of Doomö nonsense, allowing pilots new and old to quickly determine in what general vicinity the scanner is pointing at angles smaller than 180 degrees.

Yes. Also:
- Make scanner cone visible in system map.
- Make it possible to launch a scanner probe in the direction you are pointing so it warps to the scan distance entered into the directional scanner, and set it's range so that it covers the cone or to it's max range if the cone is too large.

sounds reasonable
about changing scanner range to km: no. i prefer km scale, or an option to choose (same as transversal/angular velocity). exponential slider would be nice, tho (10,000 km, 100,000 km, etc.)
