Hello there, residents of the EVE universe.
I am here to announce the first, but certainly not the last, EVE-Stuff mega lottery of deathÖ.
The prize draw for this first lottery is a whopping five billion ISK. Wait, let me repeat that. Yes, five - billion ISK.
That's quite a lot of money, don't you think?
The price for each ticket is a measly 10 million, and there is no limit to the amount of tickets you can buy - 1, 2, or 5000 are all acceptable entries.
In order to enter, please send the amount of ISK for your tickets to myself, Jazerga (member of the EVE-Stuff corporation), with the description lottery. The description is not 100% necessary, although it will help sort out the men from the boys, as it were.
Prizes will be drawn on the 13th of April, 2009, at 00:00 hours (EVE time), and the winner will be notified by EVE-Mail, and will be posted on the EVE-Stuff website.
NOTE: In the case that we do not raise 5 billion ISK for this lottery, the winner WILL still be paid 5 billion in full from my personal funds.
Thanks a lot for your time, and I hope to see some entries from you

it may not be a scam, afterall, if they are selling 5000 tickets at 10 mil each, that makes them 50 bil, 5 bil isn't much of a prize then

There are a total of 550 tickets available, to produce 5.5billion, thereby allowing the five billion price to be handed out, in full.
The winner will be drawn at random - a name from a hat, if you will - at the time mentioned before, and will be posted here, on the EVE-Stuff website, and will also be announced in a currently undecided public channel in-game itself.
There will be no use of a third party wallet at this time, as we simply do not possess the appropriate funds in advance. However, I am currently in negotiations with a number of wallet providers for the use of their services for future auctions and lotterys, providing that these become popular enough.
Again, thank you for your time, and I hope I answered your questions to a suitable level

Just a quick update, there are now 539 tickets remaining - come on guys. For a little 10million ISK you could be in with the chance to net a massive 5bil, and I'd certainly like to see this happen as a regular event

I think you need to pick something a bit more impartial to just picking a name at random something everyone can check, using a third party and maybe putting the collatoral somewhere independant would also be a good idea. If you dont have the isk's upfront maybe talk to one of the third party services and transfer the cash say every 50 or 100 tickets sold. That would make your lottery more viable atm if im honest it looks like a scam.

will the draw be recorded and broadcasted so that people can confirm that the method of drawing was unbiased, and you say that you can't afford a third party service, but also say in the first post that

We are currently in discussion with ourselves to work out a better method for drawing names, something that could be displayed publicly so that people can verify that the prize drawing is totally unbiased.
I will also be releasing, publicly, the source code for any script use to select the winning name, so that anyone is free to check it and verify that the code is realistically selecting a suitable name.
Referring to the point of my personal funds, this is an emergency situation only - I would certainly prefer to raise all the money via the tickets themselves.
Tonight, I will hopefully be reaching an agreement with a third party wallet provider in order to raise the security level of this, my first - and hopefully not last - mega lottery.
There are now, also, 499 tickets remaining, meaning we have sold 51 already.
In the event that all tickets are sold, the draw may possibly be brought forward to an earlier date, but this depends on the ticket sales themselves.
Thanks again.
