I mean, 92 days of training before Im allowed to even train one of the large artillery skills. And thats with a character that has put 5,7 mio skillpoints behind it. With Spatial Awareness 5 and Iron Will 5. And implants to support.
Let us have the advanced learning skills puh-lease!
. . . Awaiting more and hi-bit rate music - with bated breath ... |

92 days ???
To train what exactly ?
You including Gunnery V plus the small and medium gunnery skills as well ?
When you add it up it does sound like a lot but surely if you have been training these as you developed it would have been less noticeable.
I think training times to get to bship size weapons is ok myself.

...think it's for the specialization skils... L gunnery specialization needs L gun at V + med gun specialization at IV (wich needs med gun at V) wich also needs small gun specialization at IV (wich needs small gun at V), together with a gunnery support skill at V. realy hefty skill requirements here -------------------

At least you old turret-wielding characters have something to train now. This will definitely lead to a high degree of specialization in one races BS - Can't imagine everyone first training all the skills for tech II projektiles and then training for tech II laserz (if indeed you need 100 days of training for just one of them).
I can already hear the cry when someone has trained for one and TomB comes in with the nerf bat.

92 days is too much, that is going for both kinds of large specialization (autocannon and artillery). Its more down at the 65 day mark. But thats still a phat lot of time.

Well, no point of calling it "specialization" if you don't really have to specialize in it.

This really is silly. You could seriously be burned by these skills in a few months when the nerf bat swings again. Specialisation in one weapon type area is one thing, but to split each weapon type into two groups is madness.
In the real world people who only have one skill are very vulnerable and can often find themselves redundant. Don't force this on us, in real life you do have some choice about learning multiple skills, looks like in EVE we have to make one and hope it's the right one when the rules get changed later. What happened to miners who had spent their whole lives mining Coal and knew nothing else? - They got fked when the pits closed that's what. __________________

Very well said.
Making us specialise, giving us lots of skills to train to high levels so we dont run out etc is one thing, but to do this when every month brings vastly different rules is another.

OHHHHH I understand now. You want the power and dont believe it will be there when you get your skill trained. Its all good. Ask R&D people, Ask Elite frigate people. Ask Cloak people. Ask DCM people. Ask ...................
Lets see now. Balance will always be there for any aspect. You will remember that these skills where released after all the balancing anyways. Dont count on being behind the curve. Most of the game is set. They will now start working on SHIVA 100%. Give the devs a break and understand one thing..... Your pain is not your own. I think that, since this is specialization, you should eb able to skip the smaller sizes. Like to learn large artillery specialization, you just need large projectile 5, not the specializations of the other skills below it as well. And splitting it into two different weapon groups for each size was smart, because it requires more specialization to use the weapons of the group to the new top notch benchmark. "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |

I dunno seeing as the game favours an other turret each month, i'd say the pereqs are to high. Maybe if tomb would finally manage to really balance all ships and weapons. But for now the pereqs are way way to high.
Imagine, you train up for tech2 L energy guns now, because they're ³ber. Next month tomb finally see's he's messed up balance but instead of just fixing them, he nerfs them. Voila, you wasted 3 months of training.
Balance the game, then try to implement specialication. |

Well I don't mind a littel training, I will in time prolly go down atleast one of those specialisation lanes.
But what I wounder for the future is. If this rather long trainingtime is the true req for a meager Tech II Laser, Rail or Projectile Large Turret.
What have CCP in mind in skillreq for a future relese of an eventual tech 3/4/5... Or will the Techtree just stop at Tech 2??? Since it by these numbers seems like it will take over a year, to match the next serie of req for an eventual Tech 3 Large turret.

Edited by: Zipoldy on 17/08/2004 19:14:11 Good point Carnael.... will take me 60-80 days of training for Tech2 L-weapons in one class.... That is way to much.
So if advanced learning skills are not in the pipe for the next few weeks then it seems quite useless to train skills for 2-3months that might get nerfed at a whim....
