So, if I get the "epic" mission arc from a level 4 agent - will it count towards a storyline? If so, a level 4 storyline?

It would be level 1 I imagine since it's a level 1 mission. As for which storyline, unsure about that one. The epic mission has you running missions for several different factions, so maybe it counts a bit against each one of those. We haven't been told how epic missions interact with regular storyline missions that I know of.

Funny I should be reading this thread at the moment, I've just logged in for the evening and found something relevant.
I'm currently doing the epic arc - I've just moved from Gallente space to Caldari. I've not done any Caldari missions outside of the arc, I've been wandering around in Amarr space. Just had an eve-mail from a Caldari agent for the "Materials for War Preparation" storyline mission, level 1. My personal standing with the agent's corp is 0.03 neutral.

Confirmed you get storylines from running the mission arc. Just got an SoE storyline.

judging from this and the fact that you get a storyline from doing 16missions of the same lvl, and the storyline is the same lvl as the mission.
yes, you'll get a lvl4 storyline from a lvl4 epic arc, WHEN the lvl4 epic arcs will be in game.

You get storyline mission only if you get 16 missions from the same corp through the storyline (so normal game mechanics work). That's why everyone gets a SoE storyline when running the SoE epic arc introduced with Apocrypha. And since you get the missions from level 1 agents, the storyline will also be level1.
If let say in the future you get a level 4 epic arc, you will get level 4 storyline mission (of course only if you get 16 mission from the very same corp).
But keep in mind that the level of the storyline has nothing to do with your referal agent. For example currently I got the epic arc hint from a level 4 agents but since all the agents in the epic arc are level 1 agents, I got level 1 storyline.

Maybe you should try reading... The only epic mission currently in the game is a level 1 mission, and it's offered by all agents regardless of level. So right now a level 4 agent offers a level 1 storyline mission, so like I wrote you end up getting level 1 storyline missions from it even though it was offered by a level 4 agent. I didn't write anything about level 4 agents offering level 4 epic arc missions because the OP asked specifically about THE "epic" mission arc, and not about some fictional level 4 epic mission arc that doesn't yet exist...
