The shield based lose more ship hp overall and roleplay reasons aside this is imbalanced. Frigates need speed and looking at the new elites the Caldari and Minmatar will lose out the most cos they have more shield hp. If they do stop us from using oversized afterburners I think they should either remove the shield penalty from mwd or add an armor penalty too.
Edit : i actually think they should remove shield penalty it or add penalty to armor regardless of if oversized ab are to be nerfed

All ships need cap. Amarr use weapons that use a lot of cap but they generally have more cap to begin with, minmatar favor weapons that don¦t use any cap but they usually have less cap. Of course some cap have more problems with cap than others but saying that the cap penalty is irrelevant for caldari ships is just silly.
Personally I think the shield penalty should be removed as the signature radius penalty has been introduced, that way everybody suffers equally... well almost. __________ Capacitor research |

the only way it really hurts is if the shield tank is going for a max hp shield tank, with several extenders.
although they really should just remove it... it does give armor tankers another advantage, even if small, and its inconsequential enough that it really wont make a difference.

i think you'll find the missile damage relating to speed and signiture have not yet been implimented, because those changes come with the increas ein missile speed
i'd like to see some sort of mwd bonus or race specific mwd module for caldari, the galante get a super mwd bonus for their thorax. when relying on sheild hitpoints for defence, a mwd is often crippling
all of these crys for caldari sheild hitpoints will go away when they either fix that or make it so that mwd are not the be all and end all of 0.0 life, because without one, unless you always cheat using instas, your dead __________________________________________________

The Damage/Sig radius thing was brought in, whined about massivlely, then nerfed some, afaik. Yes, Gallente get an MWD bonus on 1 ship, but thats *1* specific close range cruiser. The MOA is not exactly a close range ship, I prefer the 5% shield boost bonus on mine to a possible MWD boost :/
Even if the Dam/Sig radius thing is not in yet, it will be. TomB said at one point (cant remember when) that he wanted it so that frigs didnt *need* mwds. This has been achieved now, except for the possible problem of cruise.
And anyway, Assault frigs pwn other frigs, they *should* get owned by huge great bships with cruise, they cant just beat everything.

IIRC, the MWD nerf came about in order to give a penalty to people that were using it "too efficiently" to run blockades. Apparently the PvP crowd was having a hard time catching their prey. This happened at a time when you could start your MWD before leaving warp, therefore aproaching gates at a very high speed indeed. By that time tracking and sygnatures and all that, was not really working, so no one would use a MWD in PvP. MWD was almost exclusively ment for travelling and used in some PvE setups. And it should probably remain there. The Thorax bonus says otherwise, though.

Actually Caldari ships have the same cap size as the Gallante do. So they do in fact get hit twice as hard by the MWD penalties. It's only on the BS's that the caps are more varied.

Get rid of both the shield and cap penalty, add a serious agility nerf while the module is in use. That's my thoughts.

25% less shield does not affect tanking.
When you are tanking your aim is hardening and shield boosting not shield EXTENDING.
Armor and Shield tanks suffer the same penalty to their tanking from MWD.
The only penalty for shield Tankers only is the fact the MWD is a medslot module.

25% less shield does not affect tanking.
When you are tanking your aim is hardening and shield boosting not shield EXTENDING.
Armor and Shield tanks suffer the same penalty to their tanking from MWD.
The only penalty for shield Tankers only is the fact the MWD is a medslot module.

I feel its an a penalty that could go away. And in a way it is hitting shield tanks as well. All over the boards ppl are saying when you discuss shield vs armor tanking, that "but your shield recharges up to xxx HP/s" and that is one of shield tankers strenghts. This penalty directly hits shield tankers. It also takes away about 1500 HP on a Ravens shields, more on a scorp, with hardeners that is twice as much raw damage. Please dont say that doesnt matter in PVP. Particulary in fleet battles where its a matter of secounds between life and death in many situations...
A penalty that now should go away, or be changed into -12,5% armor and -12,5% shield. So many ppl say that armor now is a "energized" type of armor and not just layers and layers of armor. So even in the physical way this isnt unreasonable.

its a big difference if you have 6k shields or only 4.5shields, you have to activate your booster sooner and you dont have that much puffer before you have to go out
for cruisers its even worsen, a bb with mwd is very very fragile Wanna fly with me?

this I would support, that would mean that it would be most useful to get in close or get away, right now when it comes to mwd and interceptors for example then it clearly favors the missile interceptors because they can fly fast around a webbed target and still do 100% damage while turret interceptor have realy hard time hitting while going so fast

this I would support, that would mean that it would be most useful to get in close or get away, right now when it comes to mwd and interceptors for example then it clearly favors the missile interceptors because they can fly fast around a webbed target and still do 100% damage while turret interceptor have realy hard time hitting while going so fast
