Has anyone else had experience with them?
I've had the chance to be involved in some 40 on 40 fleet fights, both on gates and on pos. Invariably the client goes to 3fps, chugs for a bit then crashes to desktop within a few seconds after loading the other fleet. The Mac client is currently 0-4 in fleet size fights according to my own score. Not going to bother petitioning any of the losses as I'll get the standard "Hi, our logs show your client is working great. Thank you and have a nice day." response.
It's great doing missions, flying about aimlessly or in small size fights. But that's about it. So I'm going back to bootcamp until CCP can give us a native client worth playing. |

You petitioned them and they said that your client was working great? I thought they check server logs, not your own personal client logs, when they investigate reimbursement petitions ...
Also, what Mac are you running EVE on? I'm using the new 15" MBP and I have no problems running under Mac, unless I start to use two clients at once. I encountered a mission with about 50 rats and I froze for about 5 seconds, before I could do anything and I ran into a 60 man gatecamp shortly after the patch was released where, again, the screen froze for about 5 seconds before I could do anything. Finally, I was hanging around a POS yesterday and I was getting a solid FPS of 20-30, which is bloody good compared to what I used to achieve in the old client.
Never have I had the game literally CTD due too many people on the grid at any on time ...

It's a 2008 Mac Book Pro running Leopard.
And I'm sorry but mission rats aren't quite the same as a fleet fight. Each of those 50 rats of yours likely didn't spew out 5 drones each. Similarly, flying around a station or jumping into a gate isn't the same as a fleet sized engagement either.
I had no issues but the usual ones running the PC client via bootcamp, but my experience with the Mac client in larger fleet fights says it's an epic fail. That's why I'm asking for other's experiences in fleet sized engagements. Not their experience in a mission or circling a station. |

I'm guessing that loading 40 ships & drones is pretty similar to loading 60 ships & drones with multiple bubbles and a new system, if not less intensive.

Turn brackets off, change overview settings to only show hostiles, turn graphics down to the lowest, zoom out. That'll help.
