Why do I see news postings from DED complaining about pirate activity and I can fly through a bunch of .5 and .6 systems and see CONCORD, Caldari Police, Caldari Navy, and then 6-10 Guristas, all floating in the same system. Why aren't they doing anything about them? I like how CCP is trying to give us a RP element with the news postings, but then 5 minutes later when I see the police and navies floating peacefully in space next to a group of pirates, the RP element is lost on me. Why aren't the police and navies doing their jobs?

yeah silly how when a rat attacks me, concord just remain floating around doing nothing. however if a player attacked me, it would all be different.

Aye, that has been a major gripe for me. I once almost lost my thorax because of a P.O.S. dialup connection when I was stationed in (of all places) Iceland. I logged back in, to discover my thorax in flames, and I had been getting pounded on 3 guristas invaders for over 2 minutes as I was cruising past the gate I was supposed to jump at. No NPC police/navy ships around, but there ARE sentry guns at almost every jump-gate in .1 and above, the system in question being no exception...

Aye, that has been a major gripe for me. I once almost lost my thorax because of a P.O.S. dialup connection when I was stationed in (of all places) Iceland. I logged back in, to discover my thorax in flames, and I had been getting pounded on 3 guristas invaders for over 2 minutes as I was cruising past the gate I was supposed to jump at. No NPC police/navy ships around, but there ARE sentry guns at almost every jump-gate in .1 and above, the system in question being no exception...

Same complaint from me. Hate how security won't get the criminals off my back. Then we wonder why there are felons running loose in pretty much every system.
Also, what's with these arrogant pirates? Do they really think their Bantam can take down my Raven before I reach the gate? Are they hoping I'm just too lazy to blast them out of the sky? (Which I usually am.) I wonder if I made a character named Guristas Arrogator and started gate killing if security would notice me or not.

yeah totally agree on this one, it just seems their there for show :-/ other than when theres a PvP battle.
be nice to see that what they say on the news actually happend so u could see it if u were lucky to be in that system. like with the relocation of that ammarian temple back along, be cool to have seen a fleet of haulers hauling :) and little skirmished with the pirates :)

While those special events would go unannounced for obvious security reasons, the more realistic reason why they never actually happen is because too many players would gather around and experience what the Spanish call "Lag del Muerte", which roughly translates into lag of death.
