Quick thread I thought I'd start here, Is anyone else really annoyed by the sheer amount of wormholes everywhere? I very much enjoy the new scanning system and I very much enjoy the professions of Archaeology and Hacking, however I seem to be having a problem lately where eight out of ten results are goddamn wormholes and personally I have no interest whatsoever in them right now. All I want to do is shoot some red stuff at some old stuff like I used to but all these huge holes in the fabric of space and time keep getting in my way, Do I have the "Universal Gash Capacitors" installed backwards in all my probes? I am not an excellent scanner, it takes me on average 8-10 mins to home in on a result so it is a little disheartening to find that most of the time that result is a wormhole and not any of the other four things it could have been.
Imagine my relative levels of annoyance when a probing session goes like this: ~10 mins to find something and get the result good enough to warp to it - Oh look, a wormhole, ~10 more mins to get to another result - Hooray, a wormhole, ~10 mins later and another result found - what's that? An ancient lost civilization?! oh..no.. it's a wormhole, move to another system and repeat.
I LOVE the idea of wormholes and I LOVE the new scanning system but I don't love it enough to want to spend all day scanning wormhole after wormhole after wormhole only to find one profession site with a can that holds the equivalent of 2k isk. I understand that these sites can also be found in W space but I didn't think that meant they'd all be removed from regular space?
Basically, what I'm asking is.. could someone please show me the bloody button on my probes that turns on the filter to differentiate between "Huge lump of rock" and "Huge sucking tear in reality". It's not like I've been limiting myself to high-sec either (Admittedly my "home-base" is a 0.5 but that's just where I hang my hat) I'm having the same problems from 1.0 to 0.0, a huge over-abundance of wormholes.
Please, What am I doing wrong?

Yes I am, I am trying to find radar sites and all I am finding atm are wormholes. I have found upto 3 wormholes per system.

umm it tells you before you warp to it or even have 100% whether its a wormhole or not.

But if you don't warp to it it doesn't get marked on your map as found. Enjoy "Finding" the same place multiple times.

Edited by: Kora Zilesti on 18/03/2009 23:58:10 I love it. The only thing that bothers me is the sheer amount of gravimetric and ladar sites INSIDE the wormhole space. It makes finding the other exit a *****, and finding anything besides crap mining sites even worse. When I first encountered this, my reaction was like "Oh awesome! So many signatures!" My reaction after discovering that 8 out of 10 of them are gravimetric sites, and 1 out of 10 are ladar? "God damn it, ANOTHER GRAV SITE!!"

I can't bookmark from the map screen..unless I'm doing something wrong? Please tell me how to bookmark from there and I will be in your debt (And I mean this with no sarcasm at all, please tell me how, it isn't in my rightclick menu). However, that isn't actually the main issue of my..issue.. It's the abundance of Wormholes and the relative rarity of everything else.

Arrrg, Seriously, Is everyone joking when talking about the amount of W-holes?
I've been doing nothing but probing for a week trying to find one, And in that time i've found ONE wormhole, And about 60 other things.
And to make it even better, The wormhole led to fking black rise! |

Unless there are 5+ sigs per system it's trivially easy to determine what you've already been to and what you haven't.

I'm mostly stationed in the Metropolis region and there are wormholes all over the place here.

This is true but I find myself easily confused and distracted these days. Also, that's not really the issue, it's the fact that so many of the signatures are wormholes and so few of them are anything else.

While in my brief experience I have indeed found wormholes more common than anything else when scanning in K-space, a thread about not being able to find anything other than wormholes is pretty funny after all those whining about being unable to find them. -

+1 for those whining about not being able to find them, especially in W-space with so many Grav signatures. I'm going to be out there a while if it takes me an hour or two to sift trough all the plex sites to find a WH. I flew around through 10 systems and found a grand total of 3 wormholes, one of which led me to 0.0 and not w-space anyway.

I find wormholes in Heimatar all the time. at least every third system has one. Even found one once leading into Providence though when I jumped through there wasn't any AAA in local I could wave my carebear ass at.
Noticed that mass disrupted wormholes make a different sound than (relatively) stable ones. -------- Ideas for: Mining

That is one thing they gotta change (CCP) If they can make wrecks as 'viewable' they can bloody make scannable items that have been scanned to 100% as 'scanned' or 'viewed'

I agree that there's a lot of wormholes (and seemingly less radar sites even thoug hthey added more :( ) but I don't have a problem scanning to the point of saying "oh it's a wormhole or combat site, no thanks" and then remembering which sigs are approximately which.
It's just frustrating :P
Something I do if I can't be bothered remembering or if I'm drunk is type the sig strength you get when you 1st scan the system, then scan each down to the point where it tells you what kind they are. It helps bring order to the chaos.

train astrometrics 5 enter system use deep space probes launcher one over every planet run scan

Cosmic signature - group ( radar unknown ladar grav or mag)
Find radar pull in probes warp to general area drop cores

I thought they no longer limit sites to 4au from a planet.

Which one? I do read them, but don't remember this. All I remember is a line in the patch that said something like they could now put exploration sites anywhere, not just within 4au of planets.

Just to clarify (As my original post may have been made with a slight tint of annoyance) but I absolutely love the new scanning and probing system, It just confuses me a little as to how many wormholes I find and how few of anything else I find, for example, I've literally found TWO hacking sites since I re-subbed the day Apocrypha launched and only ONE Archaeology site, In that time I've found countless wormholes. Perhaps it's just the areas I'm scanning in?
Could anyone finding few wormholes in their area please say what region that is, Like I said, Metropolis seems to have lots of them and few of anything else.

Not much to be honest.
Empire probing is a very crowded profession since it's the key enabler for the new Apocrypha content. Cosmetic signature sites are found and cleared before you can say Astrometric Trian-trianu-trigangulation.
Low sec is better. dooh you've tried that too, hmm
Or take the plunge and try probing IN the wormholes. At least that way you will be grateful that you then find another wormhole :P

I've mostly been looking around heimatar, Then went over to khanid space, As i said, I found ~60 sites, only one of them was a wormhole, Could just be my luck though :P. |
