2x BB EW (setup below) jam a typical BS - The question is, can the BS target either or both BB's and fire on them ?
BB setup
Hi 2x Heavy Launcher 2x Med Nos
Med 1x 10MN MWD 1x each Racial ECM Module 1x Med Cap Battery II
Lo 1x Small Armor Rep 1x Signal Amp
Both BB's have -12 jamming strength for all races. Typical BS with no ECCM mods has +14 sensor stength.
I am assuming ECM jammers are not cummulative across multiple ships doing the jamming so the BS will have -12 jamming from each BB rather than -24 jamming from both combined, right ?
I am hoping to learn something from this question... thx. |

The Bship will have -24. It doesn't matter who jams. Still the jammed target can't lock anyone.

Edited by: Shevar on 17/08/2004 23:16:05 In theory that should work, but you still need someone else to do the damage. And for 3:1 ganking (2 cruiser 1 bs) you can use pretty much any cruiser type and win . -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

Wait a minute... are you saying the jammed BS with -24 sensor strength cannot target any other ships at all ?
Maybe it would work better to use 1x BB EW with -14/-18 jamming strength and 1x BS to do the damage when going BS hunting... ?!? This way any non ECCM BS including Scorps could be effectively jammed. This would be interesting... |

untill they use sensor boosters that give them 28-32 grav strength (fairly common on ew scorps)

ECCM would reduce tanking yes, and even possibly cap regeneration rate, where the ECCM mods take the place of hardeners, or cap relays/cap rechargers.
But, in the case of a scorp BS, any PvP ready scorp will be setup for quick locking and target jamming, it's defence is in it's ability to render the opponent unable to attack them, as they are designed as a support BS, IMO.
As for the main point - ALL ECM put onto 1 ship are cumulative, so 2 BB's at jamming of -12, will mean the BS would have -24 sensor strength.

don't waste your time with one of each racial jammer.. -6, -2, -2, -2 = 12
if you run multispectral you'll get -4, -4, -4, -4 = 16
just read all the EW modules next time :)

BTW. the BB's second bonus is -10% cap usage per cruiser skill lvl. Train it to 4, and it can use multis.
