I've had SEVERAL different whiskey's and derivatives of such as bourbons, and scotch's. However few things are better than a Bushnell's or a Pendleton whiskey. Top shelf taste without top shelf price.

I once went round a whiskey distillery, a grain whiskey one. Put me off after realizing the end product of the highly chemical plant feel to the place was the same stuff that goes to make nail polish remover and industrial solvents. Imagine a storage tank, the top 10% is sent round the process again, the middle 70% is casked/bottled and sold as whiskey, the next 15% is used to make blends and cheap supermarket brand spirits (not all whiskey), the final 5% is used to make said nail polish remover and industrial solvents (all from the same tank).
Then I went on a tour of a malt Whiskey distillery, the process is markedly different, and 100% of the end product is casked to age. This is the reason I like my single malts, it's made by people, for people.

Unfortunately don't really have any money to afford decent whiskeys atm. I've been to the Glenfiddich and Glen Nevis distilleries though and have worked my way through a decent amount of the Glenfiddich range. All of which were enjoyable in their own right.
Glenmorangie and Highland Park are 2 others that i really enjoy too.
When i get a steady income again i intend to slowly start working my through the affordable whiskey's available here: http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/
I look forward to that day

for 40 quid you can get your hands on a 1991 lagavulin distillers edition finished in Sherry. I've just bought myself one, seems like a very good buy at that price. Best peated malt of 2008 to boot. seeing how slop would still cost you 20 quid, buying this at 40 quid would be a steal.

I can get ****ed up in a hurry drinking 7&7, goes down just a little too smooth.
I prefer Jack and Coke most times though. If I'm just hanging out with friends I'll stick to beer because I get way too crazy way too fast drinking liquor.
