Edited by: Atarre on 20/03/2009 08:58:01 I feel Apocrypha should have a Classic setting. For the players who have put time and money into this game to have Apocrypha leave Classic in the dust. I Love this game and have seen what has come with Apocrypha witch is amazing. but I cant run it on my PC for Grafix Card issues. it wont support it, and don't feel I or any other player should have to go and buy a new Grafix Card to play a game that they have put time and money into. All tho if there is no more Classic coming soon i will be getting a new one. But still don't feel i should have to.

Having a classic client and a premium client means they have to spend time and money making an additional set of content for age old hardware which has long since been abandoned by their manufacturers.
There comes a point where everything comes to end of life. Think how much money was poured into the Space Shuttle - now they're looking for an alternative.
I'm sorry you can't play EVE anymore due to your graphics card being out of date, but that's the way of things. EVE can no longer support computers which don't move with the times.

That is there job along with making the game better and New Aged. but i do suppose its is there choice on what Market Group or Customers they want to go after.and i under stand my end of players are few in numbers.

I'm sure it's nothing personal. I'm sure that no matter how few of you there are, they would love to keep supporting you until the end of time. Unfortunately it's not feasible.
You money is for monthly access, your bandwidth usage, hardware upgrades, as well as helping to pay their development costs for future updates. Those future updates get hampered by constantly having to do everything twice.
They COULD have simply ended classic when Trinity came out, but they decided to support you for that little bit longer. They've obviously just thought that it's been long enough.
Nobody expects to buy a car and for it to work until the end of time. Average lifespan for a new car is 3-4 years. It's time for you to upgrade your computer; not just for EVE, but in general. EVE just may be the thing that finally prompts you to do this.

Nightelf mohawk says "after 5 years of supporting 15 year old graphics card you really should upgrade" You can buy a capable gfx card for 15$ cant afford it? cancel subscription for a month to buy one

Common misconception.
You pay to have the possibility to get to the server, that's it. You must provide the hardware and connections to do so. Since you can't get to the server anymore, you shouldn't pay and as it was stated long ago that "classic will be removed", it's well within their right to do so.

using the example of the a car lasting on average 3-4 years is fails horribly. I'm still driving a '99 ford explorer, last I checked that was 10 going on 11 years old and still runs like a champ. I know plenty of people out there that are driving cars older than that as well.
I doubt there would have been as many complaints as i've seen had ccp been more reliable on which sm 2.0 cards actually work with their expansion. (that was a big one for me as the card I currently have supports SM2.0 but eve says it doesn't)
Also i'm sick of the elitist bull**** everyone keeps throwing about when someone finds out their card doesn't support it anymore. guess what your not the only ones playing the game you also have to learn to deal with that fact.

Yeah it's all down to greed people don't want to make things that last when they can make ****e and get people to cough up every couple of years for a new one.

Edited by: brinelan on 20/03/2009 13:54:07 Computers (consumer ones at least) were never meant to be suported for 10 or more years so your car analogy isnt relevant.
It stinks that your old computer wont work for eve any more, but on the flip side, most games dont support those old computers at all, or if they do it isnt well.
Graphics cards that are shader model 2 (nvidia 5000 series was wierd, some supported it and some didnt, even in the same model number), so a 6000 series nvidia card with agp (since that is most likely what you will need) will run you about the same price as a month of eve if you go to newegg.com. They are also pretty easy to install (open the case, find where the monitor cable plug in to, remove that circuit board and put in the new one in its place pretty much).
If it is possible in the budget, even a new budget pc or a refurb dell would be a good investment since you know it will support eve and other games for several years and you can get them for $200 - $400 if you shop around. With a pc used for gaming, as much ram and the best graphics card you can afford is always the best way to go these days (cpu isnt nearly as important as they used to be, so you can get the slightly slower cpu and not have it be an issue).
Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield. |

SM2, the new client "Standard" shader model, is roughly 6 years old itself. That means the current standard, is older than most desk-tops lifespans. And don't even get me started on laptops. ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Edited by: Atarre on 20/03/2009 18:34:14 Ok. I do understand i am not the only one having problems with Apocrypha. and i haven't been able to keep as close tabs as id like on the fourm's so I wasn't fully informed on Classic being over. and it is my fault i just have been trying and trying to get the new patch to work on my PC and was a lil ****ed off.
I have a 20gig hard drive that had 3gigs free and down loaded the patch to not have the space for the Extracting Files part of it 3/3 that was the 3rd time trying first two times it had an error pop up.
Finely after freeing up some space and getting the patch on I didn't have the space for eve its self. so called mt IT guy aka my brother and he got 11gigs freed up so got the client on there and grafix card didn't support it so last night at 1am I drove 30min to my mother's house and got her Nvidia MX 4000 got back home and hooked it up and still didn't work
But nether did my wireless internet (answers on that would be grate) for some reason the gfx card was ****ing up the connection for my internet swapped back to my Nvivia MX/MX 400 and internet worked fine.
And I made the Topic a little ****ed off at the time. so to make a long story even longer I do under stand what ccp is doing and am happy they are. if they wernt do it Eve would be just like the other low budget MMO's that don't last but a few years. so with that said id love some web sites on where i can get a gfx card that people know will work on Eve.
And if any one is wondering what my set up is i have a Dell 4300 i have 1gig ram (Maxed) for my stock mother bored Nvidia MX/MX 400 gfx card just got a 25gig hard drive last night as well so am running a 20gig and a back up 25gig atm.
