Did a wormhole a couple days ago with a few corp members, and noticed that the sleepers that do spawn aren't that many. Most I saw was 5 I believe. Though they do respawn, its not a large amount. Hence why I bring this question up.
Has anyone used an intercepter to speed tank the missiles and lasers from the larger ships, while your corp m8s take out the frigates? Thinking of doing a setup of an intercepter and 3 or 4 manti's. Mens bill of rights... Amendment IX

Sleepers ain't dumb. The larger ships will not bother with your interceptor.

Afaik it's not really feasible to speedtank wspace. The w-space you describe seems to be an easy to maybe medium wspace. Explains the low number of sleepers spawning. Hard space spawns more bad stuffs. I recall someone posting that orbiting a sleeper bs with an inty is not a good idea because the sleeper bs's lasers can track you just dandy which equals pop in a couple seconds.
I also belive that your manti's would go pop rather soonish too since sleepers lock almost instantly and manti's won't recloak then. General target switching that i observed takes between 30-60 seconds so yeah. ___________

Well, we hopped into Wspace from a low sec system. The Wspace security status said 0.0
Don't know if that matters.
The biggest spawn we had was 3 battleships, and 2 cruisers. I was flying a manticore, buddy of mine was in a drake, another in a sacuralidge (I know I mauled the name)
No problems. I got shot at by the battleship 120km's out, by some fancy dancy cruise missiles which hit me for a whoopin 25-35 dmg. They took so long to hit me, that my shields regenned whatever I lost.
So stealthbomber... No problem.
As for the inty, I guess I can see what you are saying. But, does every sleeper sport a webber? I would figure the frigate and possibly some of the cruisers would. While a BS wouldn't. As for the tracking. I did get shot at a dozen times or so from one of their pretty blue lasers. All misses except one, which I will say did hurt. For 124 damage. Mens bill of rights... Amendment IX

No

The BS do have webs... very long range ones compared to what we have unless you can afford really expensive officer mods

all of wspace is rated 0.0 so that makes no difference. The difference is in the naming convention for sleeper anomalies. Core is hard i think and frontier is easy or something like that. Anyways i can't tell you for sure how it will go and neither will anyone else be if they haven't tried it already. I'd say hop onto sisi and try it. Best way to be sure.
Could be that the inty can outrun the sleepers for a while but the sleepers will switch targets soon enough. Eventhough you describe being missed by the lasers it's just a matter of range i guess. Get in a little bit closer and it's pretty much over so you'll have to do alot of micromanaging on range. The sigs of small vessels will most likely help with the cruise missiles so you have that going for you at least.
Just some general info i am guestimating on limited experience: Sleeper frigs can go up to 3000 m/s. Cruisers up to 1500? Battleships up to 700 then? Please someone correct me where i am wrong. ___________

Edited by: Xui Meili on 20/03/2009 10:32:36 I've heard similiar guestimates on the speeds and classes of those ships as well. Don't think anyone can really say exactly how fast they go. =P
Edit::
Using the wormhole map, and the classications. My guess is we were in a Class 2 wormhole. But at the time, I had no clue what I was looking at. it just looked like letters and numbers. Just wanted to shoot things. Hopefully we will do a wspace run again and now that I understand about the classes and numbers, I will be able to know what we are up against. Mens bill of rights... Sleeper webs have at least a 30k range so probably not the best idea to speed tank it. ...

I have been in hi-sec WH space with two friends in my Crusader. I managed to stay alive altough for three times it was pretty close. They never webbed me, but you need a repper. Those structures where they spawn must have been constructed for the purpose of slowing interceptors orbiting. They do hit you sometimes and also their rockets do some small dps even at 3000m/s transversal so your armor will finally be eaten. We cleared three sites this way so it is possible to speedtank in there.

Afaik, sig radius plays a very large role when dealing with sleepers....
