Do bonuses from leadership skills get applied to the person with the skills if he forms a 1 man fleet?

Edited by: Number 86 on 21/03/2009 07:36:14 There has to be at least 2 total people in the fleet, and only people in the same system as the fleet booster are granted the boost but thats not what you asked in the OP
edit* to clarify

He does, IF there's another gang member in the same system and lower than himself in the fleet command structure. ------------------------------------------

A minor clarification, you need a fleet commander with Fleet Command to at least 1 and you also need an additional person in a wing commander position with Wing Command to at least 1.
In order for a booster to give bonuses, you need an unbroken chain of command from that level downwards.

Minimal gang could consist of 1 squad leader and 1 squad member. Both of which would have to be in space, in the same star system to receive the leadership bonuses. -----------------------------------------------

thanks, seemed like that would be how it should be, but I wasn't sure. Still a little confused on the whole chain of command thing.

hi all,
its actually quite simple, altho it took me like forever to figure it out in the first place... After this char completed the higher leadership skills, like Mining director 4 and Siegewarfare specialist 4, i began using the Eos with the leadership modules, only to find out they didnt work... but if you start a fleet, the 1 invinting others will be automaticlly become fleet commander, so first thing you need to do is move him to become squad commander, unless u got more than 5 squad members, in that caSE u need to move him to wing commander instead... and then 1-5 squad commanders, u'll will notice the diff immediatly.
Without fleet modules however it won't really matter , the 1 with the highest leadershipskills will give the bonuses, at least thats my experience, both my chars hav leadershipskills , both can fly eos ;)

A clearer answer without needless personal anecdotes:
Chain of command in a fleet goes from top to bottom:
Fleet commander -> Wing commander -> Squad commander -> Squad member
There are booster roles for all commander positions. By default, the commander is also the booster (this can be changed). In order for a booster to give bonuses there must be a person at that position with the necessary skills (Fleet commander needs Fleet Command 1 minimum, Wing commander needs Wing Command 1 minimum, Squad commander needs Leadership 1 minimum).
Example 1: You have a 2 man fleet. Simplest setup is the person with Leadership as Squad commander with the other person as a squad member.
Example 2: You have a 11 man fleet. Simplest setup is 1 person as Wing commander (Wing Command 1), a Squad commander (Leadership 5) and 9 squad members.
If there isn't a person in a commander position with the appropriate skills, the chain of command is broken.
Example 3: You have a 11 man fleet set up as per example 2. The Wing commander doesn't have Wing Command 1, therefore his skills don't flow down to the Squad commander or the squad members.
Example 4: You have a 22 man fleet. You have a Fleet commander with Fleet Command 1, a Wing commander with Wing Command 1, 2 Squad commanders (Leadership 5) and 9 squad members in two separate squads. The wing commander doesn't have the skills to properly command 2 squads, therefore the Fleet commander's skills don't follow through.
There are a couple reasons why you may want the booster role separated from the commander position; for example a person has got all the bonus giving leadership skills to 5 and is flying a command ship with various warfare links, but he doesn't have Wing Command to a high enough level. The Wing commander has the skills to handle all the squads, but his skills and ship bonuses aren't as good as the command ship pilot, so he relinquishes the Wing Booster role to the better pilot.
