what is it and is it worth the time?
im new to missions but a long time pvp'er.
is there an epic reward or whats it all about?

Currently there is only one arc and its basically a bunch of lvl 1-2 missions put together with the same rewards as regular missions. Not worth it, untill CCP introduce`s lvl 4 arcs.

The Epic Mission Arc is for new players to see the wide universe of Eve.
I did it, all 52 missions along with the 2 related storyline missions. The rewards = Small Faction standing gain and 2 +1 implants from the 2 storyline missions, lot's of alloys and compounds from the majority of the arc along with 1 Destroyers skill book, a couple of high Meta level modules and a lot of low level mods which I reprocessed and of course the salvage from all the wrecks. Each mission pays from 100k to 250k plus a bonus if finished quickly. Also some bounty's are paid on some of the NPC's.
I don't know how much the total amount of isk made would be on it but a rough estimate would be between 30 to 60 mill, maybe even more. I will say you should at least do it once. This Epic Mission Arc is made for new players and if you're new to doing missions, then this Arc would be perfect to do.

Talk to the Sister in the SOE station in the Arnon system. A T2 frig with a good fit is all that's really needed.

epic mission arc takes you through all empires though, so it helps if you have at least normal standings.
minnie and gallente navys are shooting me on sight- wanted to try out this epic thing myself. :)
