With Apocrypha I find that my brand new Dell Inspirion 530 will no longer run EVE. As soon as I leave the dock and warp I crash and get the blue screen of death telling me that there is a problem with the video shading.
I assume it is due to my lack-luster video card. What card is best to buy? I can get a GeForce 9500GT 512 MB DDR2 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card for $60.00 from Dell. Is this a good card to buy to play EVE???? What would you recomend?

ATI Radeon 4850. You can play any game out at the moment at max settings with a dual core CPU. They're cheap as hell too :). --- Have a rawr on me. |

Edited by: KISOGOKU on 23/03/2009 02:10:33 4850 would be nice but if pc had a PSU to power 4850 .malent did you updated your drivers ?If not go to intel web page and download latest drivers uninstall old ones and install new one. If you still have problems you can go for 4670 512MB models newegg His ICEQ has best cooler ,Msi has cheapest price 49.99 after MIR (but i dont have any idea for their rebate ) and asus is balanced
9500Gt ddr2 will allow you play the game but 4670 is much better than it .If you are planning to change PSU and a bit high price nvidia 9600gt/9800gt or ati 4830/4850 your other options

Geforce 5:
not bad card does run SM2:shader model 2. your not going to have all the fancy stuff and could struggle in large fleet wars.
Geforce 6:
again a very nice series from nvidia. the 6800Gt was ground breaking at its time. these days its going too be fairly cheap, but be warned from GFX6 upwards they require an extra power supply
Geforce 7: with DX9 and SM3 the 7 series is a very good low price selection. midrange the 7600 is ideal. depending on system you can have some nice looking graphics
Geforce 8 - 9: these babys now run DX10 and DX9 thats shader model 3 and shader model 4. these cards are power hungry and require a good 600+w supply too keep just one going. again with system spec these cards can and wil give you all the eyecandy eve can offer but at a price. a cheap but good 9600 will set you around ú80-150 gbp.
Geforce 280/cuda and up: super powerful graphics cards with big prices. these cards will run eve no problems with maxed out settings. they require alot of PSU power from the start and are more for the high end gaming machines.
personaly start at the geforce 6 series and upto geforce 9 series, the 6600-6800 are awesome and fairly cheap now. better still a and for a few extra pennys maybe a 8-9 series. i also need too express the need for a PSU check. these newer cards require power from your pc too run them be sure too check your power supply can handle/give the extra power required.

ya, I have a computer with a 6800 that runs eve just fine if your not in a large fleet. I have a computer with an 8800 that runs eve fantastic even in a large fleet.
For money saving, I would recommend 8000 series as they are pretty cheap right now and will last you a bit longer than the 7000 series since they can do dx10.
My main computer has a 285 that I can run 5 maxed out clients on it in windowed mode no problem without lag. This is a bit overkill tbh, but at least I wont have to buy another video card for about 2 years.

May not sound like an insane gfx card, but i'm using an nVidia GeForce 8400 GS, 1gb of memory and an Intel P4, had this PC setup for a good few years and i play eve on full premium with no problems, limited to 1280x1024 though, so it's not all great :)

I use an ATI HD4850. There is no card on the market that can beat it when it comes to most performance for your money. You want a decent PSU though.
And yes, I run EVE premium with the highest settings plus forced AA and AF.
