When I got the 14 day trial to EVE, I only mined the tutorial minerals. Ever since I've been agent-running and killing 2.5k rats ( ;) ) in belts. And you know what? It worked. Day 1 I got a Condor. Day 3 I got a Merlin. Did lvl2 missions in that for two weeks or so before I got a Caracal and moved into lvl3. Now, here I am after 40 days or so with 50 mil isk and all the frigs, cruisers and indies a Caldari pilot can lay his hands on.
Actually, I never mined any Scord until now that the Osprey got a nice miner bonus ;)
Every time I encounter a new player, I tell them to go agent running instead of mining. More fun, and got me more money then if I'd gone mining from the start. A much better start to EVE.

That is very good for a character 1.5 month old. 50 mil for such a young character, but i gues you havent baught any +3 implants then because they cost like 20 mil each. How many hours do you play EVE each day?

Couldn't agree more. Personally I tell EVERYONE I see who are on the trial to go shoot at npcs or even other players. If you're not going to do it on a trial then to be quite honest you're never going to do it and Eve will end up boring for you.
Throwing a couple of mill at newbs who are thinking of subscribing is a damn good way of helping them not to spend the next two months mining for a ship they'll lose the first time they get into PvP.
Mine to build, not to sell
That's just my opinion of course.....

Glad to see you are enjoying yourself. So few newbies actually figure out how to start off easy and therefore do not have you quick success.
If you haven't joined a corp yet, D.C.I. is always looking for "smart" players that know which end of a turret is the dangerous one :-) 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

Preach on, brother!
/emote starts taking notes...
If ECM is an act of aggression, why am I not on kill mails?

Dont underestimate the trit.

I find it amusing that people think mining is the best way to earn money on day 1. Until you can fly an indy (or have a friend who can) mining is not a great earner. Mission running is a much better way to go until then.
Best way to go straight out of school ? Find one of the systems that has 2k rats spawn near the gates and fly around chaining them. 2k bounty for each, and lots of free loot to fit your next ship with.
Of course, personally, I just hate mining.

i did the same as you. mission running from day 1. earned roughly 80-100mil in the 2 months or so i did missions, got a full set of +3 implants (cept charisma of course). Now i hunt NPC's in low sec space, mine to build ships etc, just mined my first BS in my spare time. Now envolved in a war and eve couldnt be sweeter for me.
Ok so i got lucky with the loot drops and implant drops (had about 8-9 in 3 months) but i think thats the only thing thats kept me in eve. If i had mined from the start i doubt i wouldve signed up. Mining in empire is seriously boring, i do it now to build ships i want to fly or if i need some money (imo ship building is an easy way to make isk as long as u have access to mega/zyd). Mostly i hunt serpentis cruisers in 0.1
Just to add i also co-run my corp with my brother and everything is pretty sweet except for losing ships in our allaince war cos we all pvp n00bs but hey, u gotta learn sometime right?
back on topic, mission running at the start is a bit of a grind, but the envolvment/rewards/isk etc are much more interesting than mining

I gotta admit, mining in empire is faaaar too rewarding if you have an Osprey and Badger mk2. Nice cash boost though.
Sorry Hanse, STK Scientific already picked me up ;) Thanks for the offer though!

I started mining when i was anoob... but i went straight to kernite and pyroxeres and skipped all the minerals inbetween.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Edited by: Reebo77 on 19/08/2004 16:46:02 I started the same 2 months ago, and I have been flying a scorp for a week now, and Am getting into a bit of pvp (lost 1 scorp already) and people look at my info/bio and ask me if i got my account off ebay cos im flying a bs
I built the scorp using minerals from lott reprocessing
Agent running is the best way to get cash for new players imo.
Now if there was just a quick way to build skills......
