I disagree. The REAL answer is that Aliens are controlling the minds of the DEVs and that this game is really a space sim to test Earthling's ability to fend off a space bourne attack by said Alien race. SO far, the aliens have found out that they need much tougher mining vessles if they intend to hang out in between Mars and Jupiter mining the asteroid field there while AFK... |

being afk cloaky dosent to anything. if you want to use cloaky ships to attack an alliance in their own space thats is a good use for cloaked fleets and black op's fleets. but just comming to a system and sitting there cloaked up is griefing. either fight or give the defenders a way to deal with them. |

Woah, all this time I thought that the servers did all the processing and sent data to the game client for our computers to make pretty internet spaceship visuals and give command feedback.
I knew I could modify the program somehow to have all those cloaked ships who's data isn't being sent to my computer to show up.. Woah....... Gotta thank the zombie king for telling me this information.
I mean the coding should be so secure that not even the developers can modify it. I mean anybody can get all that non transmitted data and do whatever they want. I myself run 12 dcus without stack penalty on my freighters!
After all, nothing bad would ever come out of a conflict of interest of developers feeding gameplay items. I mean all those T2 bpos that were given out back in the day by the devs was perfectly legit!
I blame it on the space mutant dinosaurs from the myhical magic transdimensionalship "Pluto" |

In many ways this. Then again some of the old code in EVE has been a bit dodgy in the past. The not appearing in local exploit comes to mind. That really seemed like soemthing that shouldn't have been possible to manipulate client side. |

And no, AFK cloaking is not griefing, it's psychological warfare.

By your thought process then, bumping miners in high sec is a valid game tactic as well. and yet CCP is quick to jump on people who bump. is that also a valid game tactic? why should griefing by cloking up while not at your computer be any different? at least if your bumping a miner then you ARE at the keyboard.
and before you give me that BS about AFK clokers not being a threat, they are more of a threat that bumping a miner in high sec. |

Oh, never heard of that myself, hmm... that would be something interesting. Sounds to me like the client sends confirmation that it received the jump or something. By hiding a handshake/etc it wouldn't initialize loading of local for others. |

My favorite part of the drama surrounding that exploit was that the very publicly accused user of it always denied anything dodgy. He claimed he just a secret technique he was using to catch bots. When you look at his killboard he was killing golems and other stupidly expensive ratting ships with his main and 2 alts nearly every 10 minutes. After it was patched he suddenly became very mediocre only getting rather ordinary kills in 20 man fleets . |

"Ypu're," not "your." Whinging is much more credible when it doesn't make you look like a functional illiterate.
(What's a "cloker," by the way?)
Oh, and just because you refuse to believe that something is true doesn't make it untrue: If he's AFK, then he can't threaten/do anything to you, QED.
