Hmm.. none of those work for me.
Oh yeah, now I remember! I refuse to have dreck like iTunes on my machine! Of course, even if I wanted there is no iTunes for my Linux box, so I'll just stick to pirating all my music I guess.

I don't get it,
It just tells me to download some weird apple crap called "itunes"?
Why would I, as a Linux and Windows person want Mac software?
Not like I have one of those ipod things now is it? (I play MP3's on my N96) ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

You can use iTunes as a music player and tt's not specifically for a Mac. It's available for MacOS and Windows. It simply happens to be made by the company who also make MacOS. Similarly, Microsoft, who make Windows, develop Macintosh software too. It's mainly used by ipod owners to synch their MP3 collections with their portable players. If you don't have one, there are better alternatives to iTunes (and there are alternatives to it even if you do). -------------

ill freely admit to downloading thousands upon thousands of tracks, without paying a dime.
this has enabled me to build a vast music library on my harddrives and to listen to an eclectic mix which suits me without paying apple anything.
HOWEVER and this is a huge distinction.
i come across artists i like in this manner. iron maiden, rammstein, sepultura, slipknot, depeche mode, incubus, in flames, dj hixxy/styles/breeze/recon, nightwish and many many more have all benefited from myself purchasing their albums.
if you like a band, support them by buying it. but theres no harm in try before you buy tbh, not when they want ú12 for a cd

I dont care for any online music store. Though to be honest I havent looked for awhile I have yet to hear of a store that will allow you to recover the songs you have bought them in the event of your harddrive or whatever you are storing the media on fails. That said if anyone knows of one that DOES do this please let me know.
Id much rather have a CD with a few crappy songs on it to store safely away than to trust hundreds of dollars of media that I couldnt possibly all remember on a hard drive. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

Sorry, I seem to have omitted the sacasm tags on my previous post.
I have other ways to get music (I buy CD's of albums I like enough tracks on, download from other sources such as torrent sites for other stuff) - I try to avoid anything with DRM though (I know Apple is supposed to have/is supposed to be removed/removing DRM from their stuff now and that you can switch it off in Media Player in Windows too, I just prefer to use Winamp). ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

It's good enough and they only take a minute at most to d/l and convert. So well worth it imo

Record labels are attributing their "massive loss" of profit to mass pirating. Not only if this is happening, they're doing something wrong, but they failed to take into account the GLOBAL RECESSION.

Ain't it grand? I just downloaded the entire Coldplay discography off of Bittorrent today. Why? Because I wanted it.

The music industry was in a recession way before the global recession.

HOW DARE PEOPLE NOT BUY THE SAME BRITNEY SPEARS ****E DAY AFTER DAY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Decline of the music industry? Lulz, go cry a little fools. They deserve bankruptcy. They intentionally crush new and innovative artists while trying to force people to buy the same ****e they put out day in day out. Now their epic failed business model is crushing them and instead of changing they want the world to remain stagnant. This is what happened to Disney when they nearly went bankrupt.
This is also where the gaming industry is going to end up. Good riddance to all of them.
