Just wondering, if it's not already been discussed before (wouldn't mind a native search function on these forums), how people think the due-to-arrive tech 2 turrets will affect the current batch of tech 1 named items..
as an example, using the figures given in Eve-I, the 425mm II is fairly similar in spec to the 425mm Compressed, the top range non-faction named 425mm. Given that this gun can sell for 45mil on the escrow market, are we likely to see cheaper Tech II 425mms appear, therefore forcing a mass reduction of all the named tech 1 turrets (good for the buyer, less pleasing for the professional ratter)?
Conversely, will the T2 guns initial pricing be based on the current pricing of the T1 guns and how will the faction-turrets (such as the Shadow Serp 425mm) be affected when the Tech II turret market takes off?
Just asking for other people's thoughts out of curiosity more than anything else..

IMO the best named tech 1 will stay expensive. The long training time for the tech 2 takes care of this. Prices for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best guns prolly will go down.
Ofc we don't know how good the tech 2 ammo is, it has an effect on will ppl train for the tech 2 guns or not and thus, the prices for the named tech 1.

With the amount of labor that goes into getting T2 Components for T2 items right now. It would not suprise me if they are even more expensive then the Named T1s. Trouble is that Named T1s will probably go up in prices, because as stated in so many threads, the training time for T2 RIGHT NOW is just to high.
Note: I'm not whining about the training time, just stating that someone like me that has Lvl3 Lrg Hybrid. Would probably be better servered getting more Rank 1 - 4 skills trained up before worrying about specializing in a T2 turret system. Just think of all the Elec, Eng, and Gun skills you will need to train. During that time you will have to use something to compensate and balance combat against people that do have the T2 skills, ie used Named T1 against them. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

inded you are right... but if you talk about bonus, check the bonuses that the specialization skills provide. Training gunnery specialization skills gives dmg bonus to the T2 guns, meaning that they can outdamage even the hi-end named T1 ones. -------------------

tech 2 guns also use more power and cpu so you can probebly fit less off them.
I really wonder how tech 2 ammo will be like doh...

Edited by: Kahlee on 20/08/2004 02:58:50 hopefully, with T2 projectiles will be up to par with the rest, and lasers will get more versatile damage types ----------------------------

Tech 2 guns are pretty worthless by the look of them. Certainly not worth the giant, giant amount of training time required to use them. Most damning of all is the fact that they use more cpu/grid than their tech 1 counterparts - many setups are configured to squeeze into a very tight fit of cpu/grid, and having these things take more will force people to either mix and match ammo (boo!) or just use tech 1 named.
The idea is for tech 2 items to be better than tech 1 items in every respect, dig?
