Did you set your windows desktop to 1920 x 1080?
Is 1920 x 1080 in your list in the 'List all Modes' in your monitor properties ?

Are you sure you monitor support 1920X1080 as well ?...
most wide screen monitor out there do 1680 x 1050 unless you go for a 24 inch or bigger.

heh, funny enough I just bought an LG W2442PA 1920x1080 monitor yesterday. As soon as I started the client I saw the resolution, but iirc it was at the bottom of the list..?
Now I run one client in 1080p and the other in 1680x1050. I'm kinda amazed my geforce 8800 can handle it :P

Yeah I've seen screenshots of EVE running at 5120x1600 (2 2560x1600 30" monsters side by side), and considering the spreadsheets nature of EVE I'd be surprised if there was a resolution that EVE didn't support (barring really low ones like 640x480...)

Is you monitor a 24" ? I run mine at 1920x1200, as 1920x1080 looks horrible.

Is your monitor a 24" ? I run mine at 1920x1200, as 1920x1080 looks horrible. BTW 1920x1080 is actually a TV resolution for movie playback(16:9) and the 1920x1200 is a PC resolution(16:10)for PC games, apps, etc.
If you run your 360/PS3 through your monitor you will probably have to use the 1920x1080 res. as console games do not (as far as I know) support 1920x1200.
1920 x 1200 are most of the pc monitors, but there are some that support only up to 1920 x 1080 as mine, the layout of the 16:10 monitors and the 16:9 is different as well thats why in in a 16:10 (1920 x 1200) the 16:9 resolution show like crap, but if the screen is 16:9 then it plays like a charm, the only problem is that it is way to wide
here is a link that compares relative screen sizes, i have saved a config with 24" 16:10, 24" 16:9 and 27" 16:9(my screen)
Linkage you will notce that the 24" 16:9 has smaller viewing area from 24" 16:10 monitors

A lot of new pc LCDs coming out nowadays, even 21/22" sized, are running natively at 1920x1080 res. Presumably as part of the HDtv fad, heh.

It is way cheaper to make a screen 16:9 than 16:10, a lot less pixels per inch

forget the movie/hd crap, most of movies are 2,35:1 so you gotta get the black bars anyway while 16:9 sucks as its toooooo short (vertical) specially for web browsing and such

Untrue. I'm looking at a 22" 16X10 and a 24" 16x9 monitor side by side right now. The vertical height of both screens is actually pretty much exactly the same. I don't really like one over the other, but both view webpages perfectly fine. I would therefore suggest you consider refining your statement to exclude larger screens.

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 25/03/2009 00:30:36 16:9 is taking over in the PC area as it allows the panel manufactuers to use the same panels in all screens as opposed to having to manufacture some 16:10 and some 16:9. 16:10 is obviously better for PC usage as it is taller, but the mindless throngs, having turned most the screens on the market into TNs, will now turn them into 16:9 TNs.

Since 22" is a dismally **** size for a widescreen monitor, you just showed why 16:9 is bad. -

Look up your pc lcd monitors performance specifications and see if its better than the one on the lg 70. I will seriously doubt it as all new hdlcd tvs are effectively pc panels with added input output to let your hookl up anything you want and view it at pc or better resolutions. As far as clarity I'm currently about 3 feet from my 42" panels and can see no pixels at all. It almost like having a window into space when I run fullscreen with the aa+hdr hack.

My 24" has the same resolution as that TV, so what does that say about a 42" screen? It has half the resolution I do, as it has twice the screen size with the same amount of pixels . Also my monitor is 2ms, 400cd, and 20,000:1, DSub, DVI, HDMI...Not bad for $260. How much is that TV? :)
