Frankly, I'd want my corporation or Alliance to be free from any taint of corruption.
I know CCP employees aren't allowed to tell us they are staff, but are they allowed to lie about not being staff?

Actually thats a good idea. Not to keep the corp from being corrupted mind, but to keep from being accused of corruption if it was part of the corp attributes info.

I'm ok with that. (half smiley because CCP employees are about as popular as AIG execs, today).
Well, obviously the corp would put it clearly in the corp description so staff can avoid applying to the corp.

Yes, this is a wonderful idea. Let's make sure that no CCP staff member can ever actually play the game.
That'll make sure EVE is always getting better.

Considering the ECM nerf and the stealth bomber nerf that were announced today, they already don't.

Screw ECM. When damps got nerfed to hell, it was "QQ adapt or die nub", so now it's ECM's turn and way past due.

They are not allowed to tell you that they are employees.
So why bother asking if you would only force them to lie.
CCP folks are spread over all the big alliances.
And I have here a great alternative to being accused of corruption: Let's not accuse CCP of being corrupt all the time based on one idiot dev years ago and a lot of nonsense otherwise.
Works well for me.
And being reasonable would be such a refreshing change for these forums. ;-) --- Save the forum: Think before you post. ISK BUYER = LOSER EVE TV- Bring it back! Laptop, NVidia7900GS, Ubuntu 8.04, WINE |

Yes it will. Instead of them making balance decisions based on what ship they like to fly they might start using database balancing methods that actually solve some problems. You have to get outside the fish bowl if you want to be able to see the big picture.

I'd say staff is WAY too close to the game. Anything that backs them off a bit could only improve things.

I'd say staff is WAY too close to the game. Anything that backs them off a bit could only improve things. And the original suggestion doesn't keep CCP from playing the game. It simply gives corporations/alliances a way to escape the stench of CCP corruption.
I couldn't agree more. Nobody who's involved with making or running EVE should ever be allowed to play it. They should get all their insight from how the game works and how its played by running reports and writing specifications- Frankly, CCP staff shouldn't even be allowed to talk to players at all, because any communication with players would create bias.
CCP staff should never play EVE and any staff with a character should have it biomassed right now. We've got to make sure that the people responsible for the development of EVE aren't tainted by playing EVE.

Ridiculous strawman, and not at all what is being discussed.
The fact of the matter is that a t20 type scandal could DESTROY a corp or alliance's reputation and they ought to be allowed to prevent that.

I agree that we can prevent a corp or alliance from knowingly benefiting from an association with a CCP staff member. If we don't allow any CCP staff to play the game, no one will ever do anything to destroy a corp or alliance's rep ever again! After all, we've got to make sure no one person can destroy an alliance!

There was a thread, once, that said every CCP Dev, maybe GMs too, dunno about that, but Devs certainly, should only be allowed to make balancing changes if they've been active pilots in high intensity 0.0 warfare for at least 6 months. Flying every class of ship.
Not sure if this was it, but it contains lots of people really attacking each other, so it's amusing enough. http://eve-search.com/thread/667327/page/1
basically, the playerbase wants Devs to be experts in 0.0 warfare, without playing the game.

imo CCP staff SHOULD play as they will know by themselves what the problems ARE on EVE Online.
Instead of reading an article or the forums. Nothing better than suffer or experience it yourself!
About corruption I dont see what do you exactly mean. I guess they got an advantage on becoming richer more easily than other players but what can we do. It's not THAT a problem, is it?

So basically you want SOE devs who don't play their own game.
They just develop it in a vacuum 9 to 5, then they go home and play BF2.
I'm pretty sure the devs have characters in all the major alliances, including Goonswarm. ---

That is NOT what is being discussed.
No one suggested the devs not play the game at all, except the facetious naysayers.
What was asked, is if a corp or alliance can forbid CCP employees from their organization in order not to become a laughingstock like Band of Developers.
And if by some chance, you think such a policy would be so POPULAR among the corps and alliances that it would keep the devs from experiencing the game, then CCP ought to ask themselves why their staff would be so UNIVERSALLY shunned. Personally, I just want to exclude them from what may very well be a small and insignificant corp/alliance. But of course, if I can, so can everyone else.
The naysayers are either engaged in asinine trolling, or they feel that the vast majority of players share my wish for a corp/alliance that can truthfully claim that all their victories are their own.

Locked.
As CCP employees are unable to reveal their identities, the OP's point is moot.
Revealing a character to be that of a dev will lead to an Internal Affairs investigation.
