Yes that rationalisation certainly points to that but the reality of certain forum sections and the majority of local point to my rendition. 
Oh yes, I understand that "EvE" is wrong I was simply saying that "Everyone vs Everyone" was the reason I had heard for it's usage.

The reason people say eve is because thats the name of the game, as to why people spell eve in different ways, well i guess thats down to personal preference.

I have remembered this wrongly it's 'cause I was drunk at the time.
Now from what I remember from Fanfest 2007 Hilmar (CCP CEO) stated that EVE is actually named after his daughter, who was born around the time there were getting the game ready for launch.
The 'EvE' way of writing it I think comes from an EVE logo where the top of the v intersects with the midlines of the E's. Well, it's like the following =v=. 3 horizontal bars then v then 3 horizontal bars.
doeas any of that make sense.....
