I'm thinking of skilling up to a Wyvern. I've heard a lot of discussion between the Chimera and Thanatos. Wouldn't the Wyvern trump both? Or would going with a lower tech carrier be more efficient in some way?

Yes the MOM is very cool to fly.
Just start the mission and then go hop into your MOM docked in station, then jump through to the next system and mop up your mission. No one will even consider messing with you either.
Give a shout if you need some scouting too.

Get out? Really? Oh I'm sorry I'm pretty new to this game and have a life to where I can't devote all my free time to a universe that doesn't actually exist loser. Geezuss I'm just trying to learn and ask some questions. I hate douches like you, who have to act all high and freakin mighty and ruin games for us who are just in it for fun and not a life style. Ya know what...you tell me everything about the game and the best fittings for all ships of all races(cuz I'm sure you know them) and I'll tell you what a vagina feels like.

Calm, a wyvern is not on the same scale as the thanny or chimera, it is a mothership, so yes it is bigger and badder than both, but it requires much more input to get/maintain (flying coffin)/ use properly. Also they can go for around 15-20 bil and are only really used by 0.0 alliances, and rich piwates yahyah

You have no reason to train for a wyvern or any other mom for that matter as well as to get one I see you buying isk with real money. But in the end you have no reason to have one except to say you have one and just to get yourself hunted. Oh and btw did anyone mention you cant dock the things? What about if you don't want to be in it too bad less you have a pos to put it in, in which case I will laugh when it get's taken (surely not me or anyone else would think of taking it). So in the end train for a basic carrier and quit with your b.s. sense of false humility and get in a chimera so I can kill your ass already.

Yeah, well that was a brilliant reaction.
Motherships are completely different things to Carriers to be honest. Mostly, they can't dock, and it's a good bit more expensive (you can buy a few carriers for the cost of one mothership). So, yes, while a Wyvern is a lot better than a Chimera or a Thanatos from the point of view of pure stats, it isn't really used in quite the same way and shouldn't be considered together in the way that you are considering it.

I'm sorry man, but for the reasons you yourself just stated, don't even look at attempting to get a mothership. I've been playing for 4+ years and I will never have one likely. Carrier might even be a stretch for you.

Little known trick, try to keep it to yourself, if you get a wyvern, fit tractor beams, salvagers and a few large smartbombs, preferably officer ones you can sit off a gate and perma run the bombs killing anything that jumps in, you can then tractor the wrecks, loots them and salvage.
Sentry guns won't scratch you and you'll be able to make millions of ISK an hour, a wek or so of doing that on a high traffic gate and you'll hopefully make a big dent into reclaiming the cost of the Wyvern.
Son't worry too much about the mids, sensor boosters and warp stabs in the low so you can simply warp off anytime you want  works well
