I certainly hope that these two videos are faked, but for some reason I do not find it hard to believe that they are not
Verizon math fail I am not sure what the standard price for kb usage, but if it really is supposed to be .002 cents per kb then then this video is pure comedy.
Rainbow fail
Well I hope you all get a laugh.

The first one I can believe. I mean those employees are a particularly thick-headed pair, but I've made a few mistakes where I forgot to convert a unit or got it in my head that I was using nano- when I should have been calculating in pico-. Brilliant finds tho ST, thanks for the laughs. -------------

At $2.05 per megabyte, that makes it one of the most expensive downloads on the planet, nearly four times more expensive than mobile broadband when you go over your monthly limit. so I seriously hope it is cents and not dollars.
If they are quoting .002c in their advertising then I think it's time to take it to court for grossly overcharging customers, false advertsising or whatever. If someone has made a mistake, it's too bad but they can't attract customers by advertising one rate and then rip them off by charging another. Having to refund all their customers the overcharge would soon teach them some basic math

Its more likely a case of the billing department goofed and the complaint department is trying to frustrate the complainer to the point that they will just give up and pay. The second individual clearly understood the diffrence between dollars and cents but when it came to the third step changed her mind. Sure he posted this on his blog, but did he still pay?
Unless it is a class action law suit, taking a major corporation to court over a matter of 71 dollars will be laughed at, the court fees alone would put you further in the hole than the money you are trying to get back and these corporations know it. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

Do you not have a small claims court out in the colonies?

Yes, but $71 would probably fall into the minuscule claims court, which our litigious society has yet to deem necessary.
In my State small claims goes up to $5000.

We do but factor in court fees, time spent to go to court house, having to prove that you were jilted out of the cash based on bad math and nearly everything else and you will soon see its just not worth raising a stink over 71 USD. In most cases by the time you got your money back you would have likely made 10 fold as much just be spending all that time at your job working.
Is it right that corporations can get away with this, either deliberately or by mistake? No. Is it really worth complaining about? Unless your Louis from Malcom in the middle, No. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

ROFL verizon vid "Well sir we obviously have a difference of opinion" "No, it's not opinion, this is math"
$.002 = 2.0 cents OR 1 dollar per 50 kilobytes c.002 = 2/100 of 1 cent OR 1 penny per 50 kilobytes ---

the verizon thing... I think the original problem was that he was connecting from Canada (while on vacation or something). connection from another country has a different rate.
but whether that's the case or not, doesn't really matter... does it? it's still VERY +_o-worthy.

For the verizon guy, the next best thing he could do (if he really doesn't bother with the small claims) is simply flip flop to another company after his two years. With over a million views I'm sure some people on the fence might look elsewhere too.

Honestly he did the best thing he could in that situation. I too have seen the orginal version and if he was verbially qouted the price diffrence then it boils down to his word against theirs. Chances are if he did manage to take them to small claims court the representitive would be able to spin it in a way favorable to verison.
