Edited by: MightyMandria on 26/03/2009 01:25:54 Greetings,
I am an alt of a middling higher-up in a large alliance. By extreme luck, this alliance has discovered an obscure secret about wormhole formation that has the potential to be extremely disruptive to the balance of power in the South as well as elsewhere in New Eden.
The amount of money available due to this secret is immense. It will result in the people who know the secret being able to put up stations and move between wormhole systems, and between wormholes and normal space, with relative impunity. For this knowledge to be held by one party for even a few months until the secret gets out will be imbalancing to the game.
Furthermore, this method will allow the people who know it to launch coordinated attacks into the back forty, bypassing frontal defenses. That's just one of several reasons why it is disruptive and unbalancing for one group to own the information for themselves. The ongoing expansion and consolidation of certain alliances has the potential of sucking much of the life out of the game and I don't want to see that happen.
The people who have this information are getting set up to use it suddenly and on a large scale.
I'm getting more and more disgruntled by certain behavior over a period of time. Many behavior patterns have just gotten too flagrant, and those who have been around for a while know just what I'm referring to.
Among other measures I'm taking to finance my exit and provide a cushion until I find a new position, I will be conducting an auction. Rather than simply selling to the highest bidder, I will terminate the auction when the total value of the bids exceeds 5 billion. At this point, every bid of 500 million or above will be considered a winning bid. This will minimize dilution of the value of the information while still preventing one single alliance from profiting unfairly and thereby disrupting the balance of power. But keep in mind that the more you bid, the more you will minimize the spread of the information.
Alternatively, I will entertain an immediate buyout price of 5 billion, but this will be at my discretion: I don't want the alliance mentioned above to purchase this asset and lock down such a potentially disruptive resource for themselves.
Bidding will close at downtime on Sunday morning or when I receive an eligible buyout payment. At that point those who have entered the auction will receive the information and the auction will terminate.
There will be no further hints given and I'm concerned that I may have already divulged too much, but on the other hand it really is rather obscure. All will be revealed to the bid winners at auction termination.
A couple of points:
* Because this is a piece of information, payment must be in advance. That means that I need to see the cash before your bid will be accepted.
* This is NOT an exploit. It is immediately obvious to anyone who knows where to look. It will most likely not be "fixed" in a patch anytime soon. It may take you a moment to see it but once you see it the light will dawn and your jaw will hit the floor.
* Closed bidding is optional but recommended. Once you see, you will understand why.
* As you might imagine, I'm extremely busy. If you're interested, bid. If not, that's fine too, but don't expect to get your hand held because I don't have the time right now.
One last note: To smaller groups that may be thinking of bidding, to properly monetize this information would take a fairly high level of logistics capability and fleet mass. Basically, if the minimum seems like a lot to you, don't bother with this one because it's for bigger players. On the other hand I suppose it would be possible for an ambitious smaller group to find uses for it so it's really up to you. Suffice to say, in the right hands this secret will pay for itself very quickly indeed...
Happy Bidding!

Just to make sure I understand this:
You're in an alliance where they discovered a very important secret. So secret, in fact, that they have trusted only a select few with it. And somehow, they will not notice that this secret is being auctioned on the forums, thus exposing you?

It doesn't really matter much one way or another because I'm pretty much ready to exit at this point. Also, there are enough people in the group who know about it that their efforts to root out the leak will only cause further chaos. I'll put it this way, I'm not the only one there who's just about boiling mad.
I've received one bid and several feelers, but to those guys I'm not really going to engage in much bargaining because I hold the cards here. I'm also satisfied that people aren't likely to figure it out based on the information I've provided but you can stop trying to pump me for more info. If I tell much more someone might get it. I understand that a few people suspect it but they don't understand exactly how it works and it's obscure enough that they aren't likely at all to figure it out on their own.

wormholes always stay open for a very short time regardless of the mass limitations, therefore it is possible to move many more ships than otherwise possible if you do it all at once, there its out... have fun trying to sell it now

Let's pretend your claims are true. Here's the solution to your "hypothetical":
1. It's probably an exploit, and CCP will come down with fire. 2. It's something CCP didn't intend for WHs, and they come down with fire.

That will never happen. He will come up with a reason not to "trust anyone with his valuable info".
Wormholes are to be random. Even if there was a way for you to manipulate them, it would be an exploit.
Either way, this is not the place for this thread > Sell Orders. You have info, you want to sell it. Noone cares here in M&C because majority (hopefully) of people here actually explore and know when they see bs. *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. its either that wormhole system's connections will "float" around a predetermined course over days, thus you enter one system one week, for a couple days all exits will tend to be near eachother(within 20 jumps or so), and that the exits tend to float over the regions. thus you can time it to where the exits lead all over the regions of enemy space.
and honestly your are fluffing it up, it is nifty but it doesn't cost billions

Could it be that sometimes, wormholes don't go to wormhole systems and just go straight to another regular system, allowing you to get capital ships into a cyno jammed system.

Yes, sometimes you can get a WH leading from one k-space system to another, from one null no another for example. Don't see how finding one would help you much - a gang-worth of people can't be a decisive force described by OP. *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. This is going to get a bit off-topic, but I have some empirical data that says wormhole formation is not entirely random. I'm wondering, if our dear op here isn't a scammer, if he has encountered similar data.
I've been keeping a chart of all wormholes in Wildly Inappropriate (Branch) space since Apoc went live, keeping track of all K-space connections (both K-K and routes from Branch to K-space through W-space systems). In my data there's an extremely heavy bias in what K-space you connect to. From Branch, it is biased towards southern space, both Empire and null-sec. Fountain in particular is by far and large the most recurring region; I've counted roughly 1 route to Fountain for every 2 days, twice more than any other region. Similarly, Domain pops up the most for Empire links, although Kor-Azor and Aridia are also up there.
I have theorized, and I want to make it clear that this is a theory that lacks enough data to prove, that the bias is intentional. I think that CCP wishes the North and the South to be linked via wormholes, for purposes I have yet to determine (to encourage small-scale roaming gangs to go father in relative terms?). This would explain the abundance of routes to the South from the North, but the relative lack of routes from one part of the North to another.
A bias of course means that wormholes are not entirely random. W-W connections certainly are not random (class 6s usually don't link to class 1s, for example) and Empire has a bias of K-K connections from one Empire region to another. So a bias in null-sec wormholes is not an unreasonable assumption, though again I'll remind people that I don't have a way to prove this, or even enough data to remove most doubts.
As for how it relates to the matters at hand, the reason I even mention this is because of another thought I've had: if the North predominantly links to Empire and null-sec systems in the South, then the South must predominantly link to Empire and null-sec systems in the North. This could, I suppose, be advantageous to the South because links to northern Empire are far more valuable than links to southern Empire from a trade perspective. A shortcut to Jita may as well be this game's Northwest Passage, and while any links to Empire are valuable for trade, links closer ot Jita are more valuable if only because everyone else is there.
Of course I reserve the right to be completely and utterly mistaken here. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

Only been through a few holes, but yes i suspected they are not random and have a pattern, anyone working this out can use it with devastating effectiveness. The worm hole spawns seem to be in the same systems , not sussed out the rotation yet , but working on it.
We came across a Sleeper Pos in one system , so i would imagine that that yes stations are possible and may even soon materialise so as to be conquered by normal space corps/allainces, i am sure this is what CCP are intending for new space,is it not an extention of Eve ? so new frontiers have to be conquered.
If one corp has already sussed out the worm hole route mapping and rotation, then other corps will surely follow suit, therefore the knowledge will not be an exploit or an advantage.

it has been my experince that yes wormholes tend to open to regions in a very biased way. one hole I know of, out of the last 15 openings 11 have been in amarr space. so at any given time this hole has a very likely chance to connect to amarr, I have also noticed that this is given for almost all holes.

So let spell this out>
Logically for deep wh exploration there must be a sequence of wh's appearing in the same place after x amount of iterations leading back to the original entry point. CCP must have planned for this if deeper wh space is to be exploited. So really to figure it out, go live in a unknown system and watch each site where a wh appears each day and record it. Now heres the speculation, after x amount of iterations a wh should spawn and in theroy lead to the original entry point.
My 2 cents. And if this is the case, LOL to anyone who pays this guys.

OMG this is the biggest load of crap i have ever seen on this game big time scam first off let me start by saying you can keep your useless information it isn't worth the brain it came from let alone 5 bill secondly i doubt you know anything about wh space cause if you did you would know the intentions of wh space was to keep big alliances from gaining any advantages from it. btw i live in wh space and have since expansion came out and i have learned the secrets of the wh through alot of hard work and yes you can manipulate the spawns to a certain degree but when its all said and done its still pretty random now i don't care if you paid me 100 bill isk i wouldn't tell you or many other people due to the fact i am making money and if i did then more people would do it and lessen my profits but i will say this you are way off and are trying to scam people selling useless information and should be banned for it but i will keep my wh secrets and use them for my corp and alliance i did the hard work and if you want to know what i know then you should invest the time that i have to learn it on your own as for the starter of this thread you should give up on this cause no one is going to be that stupid as to give you 5 bill for something you have no proof of and if you think there going to send money to an alt without anything from you better think again don't think you belong in eve you should go back to playing wow i hear the kids there fall for these kinds of scams think wow is more your speed.
