I have had it with the frequency of isk selling ads in my nationality chat channel, as a second ad guy has started pasting messages today.
Since it seem obvious that there are no hindrance for these people, with character names changing multiple times during a day, I can't be bothered to file any petitions.
Are there any ideas for handling this issue in general?

Who created the channel? If not CCP, they should be able to assign room operators that can ban the spammers.
I understand blocking can be a problem because the spammers can just make another account and you are limited to 80 blocks.

If people, in general, stopped buying ISK, the spammers and macroers would eventually starve to death and we would be free of them.
But in reality, no. Some people fail at EvE and will need to buy isk... And while these people exists, the macroers and spammers will to.
You shouldn't blame CPP, or the spammers for that matter. Blame the losers that keep buying the isk.

I think the worst part is having to look at the pasted content, despite blocking a character.
It occured to me now, that a block+wipe function might be nice. That way a character gets blocked and any content is removed from the chat channel.

I have found that petitions regarding ISK spamming are dealt with very quickly (like minutes)
use the little help button in the neocom rather than pressing ESC
but yeah, they need a filter. let me guess, it was eve-isk. c om?
I fully support Cat4CSM.

I kind of like this suggestion, to right click, report ISK spammers, making the account details more readily available to CCP for investigation.
The issue of abuse could be easily dealt with by the mechanism itself. This suggestion was in the Features and Ideas Discussion forum, so if you support it, say so.

100% agree. It's very annoying and CCP doesn't seem to care. The Missions channel is often spammed by competing spammers at the same time. Each posting their crap as soon as the other guy does it to stay on the bottom. I've sent in petitions for every one I see and they are banned almost immediately but come back 2 minutes later as a new character with a "keyboard-seizure" induced name.
CCP, come on guys... I could fix this in 20 minutes with a simple filter written in Visual Basic. I know you have better tools than that at your disposal.
Give the GM's the ability to paste spam/names/whatever into a chat filter and just let the spammers spam until they pass out while the rest of us are completely oblivious. If the spammers change up something then the next petition will give the GM's all the info they need to adjust the filter until it changes again. They point to websites most of the time so plop that address into the filter. If they change it around plop the new one(s) in too. Eventually they will have changed it so much they will have to a new domain. This is work for them and probably money too. MAKE IT HARDER FOR THEM! MAKE IT POSSIBLY COST THEM SOME MONEY! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!
If your argument is "Oh boo hoo this won't fix it completely and they will still spam" then my response is "Lazy quitter talk! FOR PETE'S SAKE ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN THIS CRAP AS IT STANDS NOW!".
If you (seemingly) don't care about the customers then can you at least give a passing half-hearted rip about your own employees? I'm sure the GM's just LOVE banning people all day long knowing that it means doodly squat and they'll just have to do it again in 30 seconds. Talk about a futile job... I would think the sheer wall of complaints would get you guys moving at least a LITTLE BIT!
If I seem angry, well... it's because I AM! This has gone on long enough, can be remedied, and a fix would help us the customers and YOU the company.

"Hello. Welcome to w w w dot I s p a m y o u dot c o m. We just defeated your crappy website filtering suggestion, Par'Gellen. Have a nice day."
Seriously, this IS already implemented. The spammers just create new websites that auto redirect you to their main site. This and most of the time the spammers just space out the letters to defeat the website blacklist filter.

Very tired of them. It was kinda quiet until a few days before expansion and then after. Its gone totally nuts. I have page up and page down with petitions.
I really wish that CCP would do something. Sandbox trial accounts or something. Or even better, require credit card for validation. --------------------------------------

Blocking them is like hanging a portrait over a gaping hole in your wall, you don't see it but the problem is still there. :(
Unfortunately due to the nature of isk spammers, they are always going to find a way to get their spam in your face. It really has no easy solution :\. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

I hate ISK spammers so much it hurts. I've blocked more than I can count to and they still disrupt and trash whatever chat I have going on. CCP should have a zero tolerance with these guys. Ban at sight.

It's one of the punishments for being in a noob corp :)
Actually, I hope they can think of a way to fix this issue. It's pretty rubbish for new players to be staring at isk seller spam, not a great new game experience.

Shockingly enough this is a problem that has been dealt with before, just not by CCP. Don't tell me its not doable, it's certainly doable. As a hint there's nothing that stops me from creating 20 trial accounts a day off my home machine. How hard is it to put in some basic, basic IDS like functionality? (hint: it's not)

One option is to leave the rookie corp. No ISK spam in player corps. And stay out of Jita to avoid ISK spam in local.

It would seem defeating spammers is rocket science after all.
Thank you for proving that you can't read and or comprehend simple concepts. He's talking about adding the modified websites that they come up with to the list so that they get filtered. If what you just said was true then after submitting a petition they would add the URL that was just submitted and nobody would ever see it again. Hey knock knock guess what? This doesn't happen and never has. Try the book Understanding Simple Concepts For Dummies before posting ignorant garbage. Thanks.
