Edited by: Jiarax on 28/03/2009 04:52:05 I've been playing EVE now for just under a week. I have done all the tutorial stuff and have a well setup Merlin I am using to do Level 1 missions.
My question though is, I bought a Kestrel that I wanted to get setup just to mess around with for fun, but I have a issue with not having enough Energy to mount all 4 Missle Launchers(not Rocket). Is there some specific skills that I can level up that will help alliviate this energy issue?
Thanks in advance for any help.

If I am not mistaken, even with all engineering skills and advanced wepon upgrades to V, you can not fit 4 standard launchers to a Kestrel. You need one auxiliary power core to in the lows, especially if you are planning to fit an AB (which you should).
You have two options really fro PVE: fit and APC and four launchers like:
4 SML 1 AB, 1 small shield booster, 1 small shield extender 1 APC, I Ballistic Contorl or Damage control or Speed mod (OD, Nano)
Or three launchers, which are actually sufficient for level ones (I did mine in a Condor back then):
3SML, 1 Salvager 1 AB, 1 small shield booster, 1 small shield extender 2BCS, or 1BCS+DC or speed mod
I honestly prefer the second one due to the fact that you are salvaging on the same ship. DPS is sufficient for Level 1s.

Well, I'm assuming you're talking about powergrid when you say
"energy". Training engineering gives you 5% bonus per lvl.
Training advanced weapons upgrades reduces powergrid usage for
weps but you will need weapons upgrades at lvl 5 before you can
train that. You'll just have to fit a power diagnostic system
or a reactor control unit until your skills are good enough. I'd
go with the power diagnostic if it gives you enough for weps as
it also gives you bonuses to cap and shield amount as well as
recharge rate.

I've played around with that ship on a alt and it's a tough ship to fit with all missles as a noob. It might be a easier fit using rockets until you get better skills, might be your only fit as a noob.

Guys, even with all skills at max you can not fit 4 standard launchers on a Kessieunless you opt out on the AB. The problem is not CPU is powergrid. You need an Auxiliary power core fitted if you want four launchers and an AB which I believe is mandatory. If you choose to slowboat, you can fit 4 launchers if you get your engineering skills up but with no propulsion mod missions will take significantly longer, epsecially if you plan to salvage as well (which you should as it is a goldmine for new players).

I have a Build that I just tested for our corp "Friday Frigate Fight". With decent skills, 4 SML's isn't that hard.. but fitting an AB can be a bi***. I had to fit 2 Reactor controls in the lows, and settle for a SSE2, Invuln 2, and AB 2 in the mids, You could waste your time trying to fit a booster in there, but it's worthless and hopeless.
Still.. it was very fast, and it easily took down 3 other frigate's.. Even the last who tried to warp-scram me. In fact, I accidently podded 2 corpmates (We were playing to stop at any structure damage), because the damage was so high. It even surprised me.

For PvP, don't fit an AB. You'll get get outperformed by Rifters, Tristans and whatnot. Slap on an MWD, micro cap booster and as many SML's that you can fit.
