Just wanted to drop in and ask a quick question:
Rolling alts, suiciding people, then deleting them and repeating the process to avoid the sec status system/hit IS illegal and/or classified as an exploit, correct?

In that case, how does one go about escalating a petition that the GMs didn't take seriously and closed? Am I supposed to refile it with a request for escalation, or is there a button I press?

Yet somehow it isn't an exploit when miners use disposable alts to bring Concord to the belt...
FYI if you can come up with ANY realistic explanation as to why you recycled the alt it is no longer an illegal ebil exploit.
Same with bumping freighters in Jita, you just have to have an in game reason for doing it; i.e you are a merc paid to disrupt their trade or whatever.

Ive been quite curious about this for some time as well. Suppose you rolled a new character, used it to suicide gank a couple times, and now it has a lousy sec status. How long exactly do you have to wait to biomass it and free the slot for something else, for it not to be an exploit?
Do those characters have to stay on your account forever and ever, even if you have a legitmate need for the slot they occupy? Or perhaps if biomassing them is an exploit, can you petition CCP to remove the character for you?
Seems odd, as generally CCP defined exploits are fixed within a patch or two to make them impossible. Has this occured yet?
Or is this not really and exploit at all? Is there an official CCP sanctioned website that lists currently punishable exploits?

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 28/03/2009 15:02:12 Repeated deleting/rerolling alts with the obvious intent to circumvent security status 'issues' is NOT allowed and will get you a *******ing from a GM.
If you 'happen' to delete a character at some point in it's life while he may or may not have a negative sec status is ofcourse allowed, as you could be doing that for a myriad of reasons. But if it's blatantly obvious and thus 'proven' then a GM is going to be one step closer to his quota for the day.

Will they only be punished, or is there a chance I may be reimbursed as well?
Also, once a petition is closed, is there a chance that the GMs will revisit it with another message, or do I just delete it and refile so that I can escalate it? They gave me a canned response within an hour the first time, I'm guessing they figure I'm just a scrub complaining about getting ganked...

Why would you get reimbursed because of a perfectly valid tactic? There's nothing wrong with the act of using suicide characters itself, only (if proven) with the deletion of them afterwards when they drop below -2, this does not change anything for you.
You can report them if you suspect them of deleting/reusing alts to circumvent sec status, but that's all. What they did to you was not wrong, it was perfectly within the rules of the game and as such you won't get any reimbursement.
Apart from that they will never tell you what happens to that character as that's between CCP and that player. So all you may accomplish is putting that player on their radar for possible abuse of alts/characters.

it would be simple enough to create a trial account... make a char (caldari, cos if I'm right kestrel is the highest volley dmg at lowest SP) train up a couple of the req skills like propulsion jamming and missles (withought having to halt training your main
total cost about 5mill is (inc a couple of dive bombing kessy's) and then when your don let the account finish the 14 days... CCP can hardly take actions against an account that is no longer active!

The audit trail of isk to your main could very well result in a ban on that account or at least the removal of all isk and/or assets gained through the exploiting alts.

the isk trail could be cut off by dealing in mins... buy a bunch of rare mins warp to a safe spot and dump em... while using yur suicide char to collect them then sell em :D
(its long and complicated but I'm sure the rate mins are bought a connection would be hard to prove)
and as for an IP trace, there are internet cafes that someone could use or only log in your alt at work (if you can get online at work)
and as for the loot/salvage from the kills... they would be flagged like any other thief.

using an alt to suicide gank, then biomassing him to make room for another suicide gank alt has been classified an exploit for a while now But.... with the new skill point system odds are the character is being kept around for a while now If your dying to a days old character you deserve to lose your ship. Stop pretending your completely safe in high sec

Last week had quite a few cases as well. Seems someone is bored at times, kicking up some few threads, then go inactive for a bunch of days. *shrugs* - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |
