Edited by: Jerera on 28/03/2009 23:20:51 So, here's my problem :
Suddenly, today, my EVE crashed. When I relaunched the eve.exe, all my settings (overview, EULA, ...) were gone.
And, my client now nas strange bugs such as :
* Mouse wheel doesn't work anymore * I can't drag/drop items, they stay on the screen and won't go away (see the screen) * I can't target things, when the timer ends nothing happens (the annoying sound and the moving arrow corners stay forever)
But all those things came suddenly, not even after a driver update or patch.
I tried reinstalling the whole EVE client, didn't solve anything. Trying restarting the PC, reinstalling nvidia driver, same result.
The output (stdout/stderr) of wine doesn't contain anything anormal
I use wine 1.1.16, please help me ! But yeah, you are obviously interested in my post because you're now reading my signature. |

sorry to hear that no magic answer but did you completely delete your cache folder when you reinstalled Eve? Also, did you clean up your system before reinstalling eve? might have some corrupted files/settings lying around who did not get overwritten.
Also, might be worth cleaning up wine and reinstalling (Back things up first !) wine as well?

Thanks for the answer, but my problem still isn't solved
What I've tried so far :
* Using a totally new wine prefix * Reinstalling the nvidia driver * Reinstalling EVE from scratch * Wiping cache * ALL possible graphics settings
I'm really puzzled because that problem came out of nowhere It used to work flawlessly (even after 1.0.2). But yeah, you are obviously interested in my post because you're now reading my signature. |

in a similar perplexing vein-
i found that the text in the various table displays eg cargohold dialog box had 'spilled' outside of the dialog box width for no apparent reason. this was a couple of days after the successful manual patch install and is not due to it.
reinstalling the nvidia drivers (180.29) and kernel sources from the suse repository seems to have cleaned it up for me.
on another box - no problems

Jerera, would you be able to post your full computer stats? Specifically what architecture you are running, what distro, what wine version, what additional wine stuff you are using (for eve, this should be msttcorefonts, ariel font, and d3d_36.dll), and also what video card you are using, ATi cards and later dx9 nvidia cards have some issues. Also, you may want to submit this bug to the appdb in case others have it too.

Maybe it's not Wine related, I don't know. It worked well weeks ago.

I tried with the Singularity client, and It works.
Thats weird, but... I have to wait for the next patch. Hope it's not in 8 months. But yeah, you are obviously interested in my post because you're now reading my signature. |

I'd guess you missed clearing the cache files in the ESC menu.

The latest EVE patch fixed this exact same problem for me.
