A well-intended piece of advise: Don't do it. Seriously, don't do it until you know enough about the game (a) to figure out what implants you need yourself and (b) to not have to rely on a third-party program to tell you what you need / how long it takes. Chances are you've not even taken into account everything you need to fly the ship (as opposed to simply meeting the prerequisites). You're heading for disaster if you go along with this.
That said, I don't mind if you lose everything you have (or more), so getting some implants boosting Perception and Willpower will help you along greatly. Intelligence and Memory might help a bit. (This all depends on which skills you've trained already and which you still need to train of course)

sheesh why so glum chum? i KNOW not to take an unfitted ship out to the open... why i said it will take that time to fly her im now going to see how to properly fit one of them so i can find the amount of time it will take before she can ever see the light of day. anyways anyone else know the right implants/hardwiring? ------------------------------ looking for a corp. message me insame if you would like for me to join. |

I did list the implants (unless you don't know which implants boost perception/willpower, which would prove my point). Hardwirings depend on your fittings and intended use.

Full set of +3,4 or 5s for all attributes. Even Charisma is used thanks to Leadership V for fighters.
Not exactly rocket science. ________

Not to mention that +10% shield and armour hp becomes serious business when you're in a carrier...

I think what these gentlemen are trying to say is, a carrier is a long term goal. One that most players shouldn't realisticly strive for until the 2nd or 3rd year of playing. But this doesn't mean you should stop wanting one all togeather, but you should focus on mile stones leading up into it. Things like Drone Skills (which don't help Caldari much sorry), maxed shield tanking skills and Great Navigation skills (which do help every ship, although Jumping is exclusive to Capitals).
Yes Capitals are cool, but in EVE nothing is an I-Win button. Capitals all need support, they need alliances/large corps(same thing) to back them up, they need a lot of isk to fit and maintain, Fighters/T2 Drones are EXPENSIVE, and losing them from mistakes ect can be expensive. Jump fuel adds up over time...
Look I totally understand, I use to want to be in a Nidhogger so bad I drove my corp nuts with my babble, but now i'm 1h away whenever I want it, and you know what? I'm training my Mining skills, getting my Rorq skills up, and I know i'm not ready to fly that carrier because my Drone skills are not carrier par, my Navigation skills barely jump the Rorq, and a lot more.

To add, if you're looking at 6 months to get into a Chimera, consider the pros and cons of all the carriers before making that leap. If you already have Caldari BS V trained, then that saves a month.
I would recommend most other racial carriers over the Chimera in any case, especially if you plan to step into a dread at some point. The Phoenix is terrible for shooting anything other than a Control Tower (including modules and other capital ships).

Edited by: Foulque on 01/04/2009 04:18:33 Curious does your plan actually contain what you really need?
Like... Carrier 4 Capital Shield ... 4 Fighters 4 Capital X Transfer 4 Jump Drive Calibration/Fuel C... 4
As well as other general supports to 5.
From what you've posted I'm kind of leaning towards no. ________

Toss in practically every skill in the Drone category to 4 or 5 and the necessary prereqs. A carrier pilot who can't use remote rep drones, ewar drones, in addition to T2 (light med and heavies) is seriously hamstrung.
You'll also need most of the engineering category to 4 or 5: This includes all of the standard shield skills (except maybe the comp skills depending on your opinion of those) and the Capacitor skills.
Long range targeting at least 4 (to use T2 sensor boosters), etc.. "Boo hoo. Cry some more." CCP Whisper
"There's no such thing as too much of a deathtrap. Y'all obviously need more deathtraps." CCP Prism X |

I found my T2 lights quite useful taking all that frigate crap (often web jam scramble) out of my way so i can concentrate on damage dealers (drones eat those frigs at least 3 times faster i would do with cruise) and keeping stuff from regen on bigger ships when i need reload.
