Originally by: Bhal'rog I thought real pirates did whatever they want. Kill, rape, murder, plunder, pillage, loot, ransom, etc...
If a pirate decides to be honorable that's his/her business and that's cool. But pirates do not and should not have to be honorable.
RPing a bad guy with honor has a certain flair but so does Rping a murderous monster.
this post is one of the best i have seen for along time nice post

Exactly why your average "victim" wont pay up, you cut your own throats because you cant wait to get your gun off.

I almost always try to ransom, unless the target shoots first.
Most people are pretty cool about it, but theres always the minority of whiny smacktards.

i think its cool that some peoble do ransom (or like jokers you can pay to not be picked on)
I personally would never pay when i travel 0.0 in my mega i expect it to be blown out from under me and i will rather fight 3-1 then surrender however thats just me
atm though i got rougly 80 mill worth of implants in my head (i still go to 0.0) so IF you catch me i might change my mind
Thank You Paw Sandberg

Any groups like the 'Jokers' left in Eve who are still active?
Anyone with the pirating style of Setec?
I copied this from another site.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
ôPiratesö
i) Hardcore pirates, these guys just get on with pirating, sometimes they wreck and loot, sometimes they hold up, sometimes they hunt, sometimes they gate camp. They arenÆt there for your amusement; they are there to make money. They also tend not to whine about the game rules; they just get on with it. I would say Jokers are pretty much the epitome of this type of pirate.
ii) Softcore pirates, these guys want a return to the ôhappy daysö, they would like to be able to camp empire space all day long without response and get rich on a minimum effort. Ironically, one of the often unmentioned reasons these guys want to get back into empire space is for protection against player alliance response, because there are now several alliances in this game that game rain death and destruction upon any pirate camping spot in 0.0 space. I tend to believe TankCEO is a ôsoftcoreö pirate. He seems a bit too much of a dullard to work out ways to live within the changes of the game.
iii) PvP ôpiratesö, these chaps just like fighting really, it doesnÆt matter whether they make much money or whatever, they often have alternative income sources anyhow, they just enjoy combat and the test of arms, and often wish that the game restrictions would allow a more varied range of potential combat locations. There are quite a few corps like this, and lots of them do no traditional piracy at all, they tend not to moan much, because fights can always be had in 0.0 space, after all, you merely need to invade a regional alliance territory and shout out a challenge on local. Biomass are close to this kind of Corp in my eyes.
iv) PvP ômercsö, these are people that sometimes get confused with pirates by Care bears, because they are earning money by fighting. The difference is their corporation styles them military operatives, and they take contracts against individuals and other corporations to cause damage and losses for payment. Naginata and Reikoko for example.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

We always try to get a ransom from battleships and if it weren't for the crappy armor on cruisers we would even try to get a few mills off them :)
Ransoming is what it's really about, that's where the real ISK is
It's time to play the music It's time to light the lights It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight! |

i've been camping a 0.0 gate before, and we could ransom quit some there, and those that didnt pay for the ship, still payd for that 60.ooo.oop $ in their heads, so we still earnedlots of money... but when i go to a .4 to tank the sentries, you got to admit its gonna be hard to ransom, if you make it out alive (perfectly possible with a good setup) you got to make sure your target doesnt make it to the gate b4 he payed, and stuff like that, so the true option at a .4 gate is take a peek in his hull, and what other way is there to make a whole in the hull then a few volleys of good old torpies

I don't get it...unless your Solo and get jumped...yeah, best bet is to pay the ransom...but if your in group (3 or more) and not all rigged for mining...and not totally outnumbered/outgunned....fight it out...you can alway buy another ship...or run mission to get implants...
Just my opinion...Considering Insurance (if you were smart enough to buy it) covers your ship with some exceptions (ceptors, assault frigs, etc.)...

TThe way i think about it is, i want the ransom, i want u 2 pay the ransom, once uve paid me 30 mil u can keep ur bs. But should a corp m8 say i dare ya 2 blow up that apoc i shrug and say, alrite that'll be a laff.
When ur in the position of power u can do what u like, forum warriors can flame all they like but a dead bs is just a dead bs and honour is an illusion. I rp the apathetic mass murderer. __
