I would like to add an alt as a second character, that is , a separate account. Can I run that second account on the same computer simultaneously or do I have to have a different setup or configuation in the computer...or even a completely different computer? I tried to run a second account on my computer yesterday and I was not allowed. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I have 2 accounts and regularly run 2 eve clients on my machine with both accounts online.
What do you mean by "not allowed"? By Eve or by the machine?

a trial and a full account cant run at the same time
and yes u can have multiple clients running at the same time..make sure that they all have their own separate install...in fact at Fanfest '08 they said they were adding support for multi clienting and making it a "feature" ================================================

there are special cases where some ppl dont have to do this but you should re-DL the EVE client and install it again to a different spot
[Main]: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe [Alt]: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE2\eve.exe
each version has its own folder that it is installed to...also is a requirement for doing the test server as once u patch to the test server version u cant patch back to TQ's version ================================================

This isn't entirely necessary.

The message was from EVE. And yes, I was running a full account and trying to put a trial account on top of that...I guess that is not allowed. :) Thatnks for all the comments.

You can have as many full accounts running simultaneously as your computer will allow. However, when running a trial account, you can't use any other account, either full or trial.

You can run your main account and a trial on separate computers from the same I.P. address. Laptop for-the-win ![Laughing](/images/icon_lol.gif)

Copy & Paste works fine for me, so I end up with C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE and C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE - Copy.
There is no need to download the gigabytes of data all over again.

You can also use the same install. That's what I do and I have no issues apart from the settings always being the same from either client (dependent on which client dies/starts first). EVE saves your BMs and other information in different folders, so it's all good.
