Hi all,
So I'm a newbie and without going into my life story, EVE has got me very interested. I was looking for some opinions about the career path I was thinking of taking, to see if it's worth it at later stages of the game.
I was thinking of going the route of piloting small, very fast, electronic-warfare oriented ships that can run disruption-type tactics in a battle, or serve as a smuggler if the need arises. Does that sound like a career that has, well, a future once I get into low-sec and corps?
Thanks :)

Depends. Electronic warfare isn't much of an income source, but there's plenty of ways to do it with a similar skillset so I wouldn't worry about it. As to whether EW ships are in demand....Yes. Very yes.

seems too me you want to be a cov-ops/recon/cloaker guy.
Here are your options PVP Cov-ops ship : You will be used as a socut and making cynos for capital ships (valueble asset for large alliance). Electronic Attack Frigate: not recommended, there are more effective ships for EW (see below) Recon ship: Very useful in roaming gangs where you will provide EW support/tackle for HACs (fun gankage)
Making Isk Transport ship: Can be a big money maker, if you know how to use it. Blockade Runners can escape gate camps (same tactics as flying a cov-ops) and haul stuff to thru dangerous space to be sold at marked up price!
As for race, i would recommend Minmatar, and maybe Caldari for Recon ships. Minmatar have the fastest cov ops and recons, and the only transport ship that have 2 high slots (for cloak+probe laucher).

A thing you could be doing with this carreer is getting ORE Blueprints from 0.0 to hisec. Well in that case, you are reading my signature. |

Sounds like you wanna be a transporter/cov ops/ewar guy.
Definitely viable and lots of fun.
Train for minnie first, drive a hoarder/mammoth. Transport stuff for profit. Buy where its low, transport to where its high. Mish runners put up buy orders on stuff they need, but they don't want to stop running mish to get it, so you go get it, buy it, bring to where they are buying.
Lowsec can be very profitable but at high risk. You could lose your ship + cargo and it can set you back.
0.0 can be profitable if you have the specialized skills/equipment to be a cargo runner, but again a tight gatecamp can ruin your day.
Cov Ops and Ewar are useful in PvP. Blackbirds are highly regarded and not very expensive to lose. ---

Don't matter much, the difference is about 6 hours.
If you have a name/face you like, keep it and crosstrain. ---

If you're into scouting/probing, then exploration's good as well. The magnetometric and radar sites are profession sites that offer very light NPC rat resistance for some valuable loot. Also, corps love a good prober/scout, especially in Wormhole space.
