how about we make a slight change...
all "meters" becomes "kilometers"
so - all ranges get multiplied by 1000
all speeds get multiplied by 1000
but leave objects where they are.
so we would now fly at and around planets :) use roid belts for cover etc.
??

i fail to see the logic of that personally, if the ranges are multiplied, and the speeds of ships are multiplied by the same value, then wouldnt it take EXACTLY the same amount of time to get behind a roid to use it for cover.
(if speed = distance / time, then time = distance / speed rite?) |

but going at say, 20km/sec now -> 20,000km/sec
that would be enough to get on other side of a planet :)

planetary flight might be posible but not for a VERY long time.. and you probebly wont se A BS in planetary orbit either
