That term has been around for awhile and it pains me to see it so missused.
Carebear= someone who doesn't want to pvp. It was originally created by people on pvp servers to make fun of people on pve servers.
Since eve has no pvp or pve servers the term could be used for people who hide behind concord or for vet's who hide in high security space.
Please stop butchering an old a slightly comical term!

I agree whole heartedly, the term is missused but the OP is wrong in his hypothesis.
Carebear was in fact first used as the race name of a Pre-eve race of peaceful yet powerfull fuzzy creatures, who lived in the woods (but didnt s**t there apparently) Most could project some kind of effect from the magical symbol on their bellies.
Later the race was annihilated by in fighting. The Ebil NOSbear and is faithful followers NEUTBear, ECMBear, DAMPBear (he wasnt happy with his name, i can tell you) and TRACKINGDIRUPTORBEAR. It was everything that ARMOURREPBear and CAPTRANSFERBear could do to hold them off, but eventually the fell.
It is fabled that one day NOSBear and his followers will return....
so now you know

A carebear is anyone you hate who plays in a way that you don't like.
I learned it in EVE so it must be true
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

That's also a munchkin. Monte Cook said so, so it must be true too. What a synchronisity.

Carebears are everything that's wrong with Eve. They are the vermin that suck the life out of Eve. Carebears are aweful people in real life. They bring me and others like me misery. I hate carebears. They never do what I want them to. Did I mention I hate them? They're the cancer of Eve. Eve would be over 9000 times better without them. Carebears go against everything that Eve stands for. Carebears were not part of the original intent and design of the game, and therefore are a rotting uncalculated biproduct of an otherwise beautiful idea. Unlike in-game pirates, carebears are lazy and weak, yes, even in real life. They are thirteen-year-old players who cannot distinguish game from reality. Pirates are generally more mature. Carebears are generally more childish. Carebears are the reason our real world is in dispair. World hunger, disease, and economic downfall can all be attributed to the existence of them. This is all just my humble and objective opinion.
