A HAC, if properly tanked might be able to hack it.
I use a BC, a Brutix or Myrm. On the brutix I have 5 guns, probe launcher and salvager. In de mids I take an analyzer, but in the lower tier wormholes it is hard to find radar sites so far... perhaps I am impatient with the scanning...
Higher tiered wormholes are often too hard-hitting to be able to do them solo. Again tank is important.
Look for perimiter sites.

Depends on what class really some of those sites spawn enough nasties to overwhelm a command ship tank. This goes for class 2 wormholes and upwards.
Tbh I consider it marauderwork at least if you are doing class 2 or class 3 wormholes.. the harder ones takes a fleet. "Subtlety is a thing for philosophy, not combat. If you're going to kill someone, you might as well kill them a whole lot." - Vulcan Raven, The Last Days Of Foxhound |

It's possible to do an Unsecured Perimeter Amplifier (easy radar) in a Vexor (T2 with decent skills). Not particularly easy, though, there's a four cruiser spawn that is hard on a vexor's armor and you have to babysit your drones.
It's possible to loot the cans out of a Forgotten Perimeter Habitation Coils (easy magnetometric) in a Dominix (again T2 with decent skills). Be aware, however, that it's quite possible to end up facing a couple of battleships, some cruisers and some webifying frigates simultaneously or 6 cruisers and 6 frigates or so if you screw up the spawns. The site appears to despawn if you warp out after the third wave or attempting to hack a can. You have to be very careful with your drones, it's best to have a remote armor repairer and kill most of the webifying frigates asap as they can turn to web your drones instantly which often results in a popped drone.
I had ended up dropping down to one salvager which means that it can take a long time (post patch) to salvage wrecks given the other handy things you probably want to fit (guns, probe launcher, drone link, salvager, RAR.) You'll also want an analyzer in the mids and probably something to speed you up as the cans are pretty far apart and you'll be webbed a lot.
The harder magnetometric Forgotten Frontier Quarantine Outpost was too hard for me as my dps was too low to break the remote repair, although better skills might allow a dominix to make progress there solo.

Edited by: Bombacla on 03/04/2009 12:10:06 I've been using a domi for class 1&2 sites.
Full T2 fit, Dual LAR, T2 sentries, 3 CCC rigs. enough slots leftover for utilities and the t2 sentries make short work of cruiser & BS spawns. But yes, you have to keep an eye on the drone aggro. ----

A passive Drake gets you safely through Tier 1+2, however takes ages to kill stuff.

Best fit for a Class 3+ system...... a fleet.
Sorry.
If you only want to do Class 1-2 systems, or if you're really good and stubborn Class 3s, you should be able to pull it off. And I applaud your initiative and balls.
But if you want to tangle w. the harder sites, you really do need a fleet. No fittings will help you survive 3-4 sleeper BS each doing thousands of damage in a hit.
Good luck in there. Wormholes ate my sig.

I did a class 3 wormhole in a passive Ferox. Had to warp out a couple of times, but I managed it. I'm using a passive Drake now, and have no problems tanking 2 battleships & cruisers. _____________________________________________________

I did a class 4 Radar site in my Golem with my buddy in a Scorp. Had to warp out a couple of times, but it wasn't that bad. I solo most of the encounters.

i have no problems in a passive drake for class 1-2s havent tried a 3 yet. Done a class 5 anomoly with 2 drakes and a cyclone. Ended up warping out after about 20 minutes because the clone got popped. the drakes handled the dps ok but i dont know if they would be able to handle the respawns.

I was using a Cerberus today worked fine for Perimeter Hangars/Checkpoints.
5x Heavy Missile Launcher II (Scourge Heavy Missile/Fury Heavy Missile for BSs) 1x Core Probe Launcher
2x Large Shield Extender II 1x Photon Scattering Field II 1x F-90 Positional Sensor Subroutines (Targeting Range) 1x Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron
3x Ballistic Control System II 1x Power Diagnostic System II
2x Bay Loading Accelerator
Not sure about the target painter... but anyway. With this setup I could engage and eliminate the waves before they got through my buffer with little or no down time between pulling the spawn waves. Always started from 120k at least, Sirius turrets only have 100k range so you can ignore them if you are beyond this (ofc destroy them at the end if you intend to salvage). The emphasis here is on killing the highest damage targets first, and with my setup the emphasis is on dps rather than tank. Drop in the fury missiles to take down the Battleships and all but the toughest type (Third wave Perimeter Checkpoint) go down by the 150th missile (the tougher variety takes ~250). At this range you can deal with the heavier hitters before they get in laser range thereby removing half or more of their dps and two of their damage types.

I use an armor tanked Ishtar to solo radar/mag sites. The key is not to even really try to fight the spawns. My drones whittle down the first wave til it can be tanked indefinitely, then I access the cans and leave. If I get a frontier site with warp scrambling sleepers, I add the step of getting 150km+ away from the site before popping the scramblers and risking the second spawn.
note this only works on perimeter/frontier sites, core's are a bit much.
bring a LOT of t1 lights for the frigates.

Edited by: Adriana Minitz on 04/04/2009 10:24:45 A dual MAR-fit Ishtar (hint: large named cap battery and rechargers) is quite viable for the smaller (edit: up to frontier) WH systems, able to solo several cruisers or the odd BS+Argos. The key for me was to include a tracking disruptor, nicely draws aggro away from your drones. My specific fit allows only one salvager, getting one other specialized module in the mids would also be possible.
Sentries are a mixed bag. Wardens are useless - trying to hit sleeper frigates coming at you with 1.5 km/s (or higher) transversal is impossible and the Ishar won't hold many omnis without sacrificing cap/tank stability. Gardes are better but at the end it usually boils down to a close orbit around the sleeper target. |
