Works pretty well here - tho you still upload like 99% of the data for each vid I've tried... so I'm pondering the actual bw benefits your side...
Ave speed is around 100k/s, fast enough for me... Yeah I'm impartial on it :)

The dl speed is quicker, Filesizes at 75mb is fine, anything smaller takes such a small dl time anyway.

I don't think the issue is server size as much as it is server bandwith. :) When people use torrents it cuts down heavily on the bandwith usage on his part since a lot of other people will be seeding as well. ___________________

If you are single on the torrent yeah I will be the only one seeding (or my servers). What does effect though is when initially a movie (mostly) is put up, like Cown's, they are very popular so those first hours/days the torrent do help a lot, then of course people will stop seeding and perhaps you one week after the realease download it - and only my servers will give you the file.
Altho the most improvement I think I noticed (not thinking bw) is the stalled downloads, as generally instead of many stalled connections, connections do drop and free up harddisk queues and such a lot more now than before, and thus maybe not giving everyone better speeds but more a general good average flow of the files and not bursted downloads only to stall a minute later.

FYI, the web seed (W3D Nicole) isn't responding at times.
Every so often she'll take a break and will stop responding to piece requests completely. It doesn't even respond to an 'End request' command.
This results in my lovely 1Mb/s download falling to 50Kb/s in most cases. That is until she recovers. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

Edited by: Handon Guild on 12/04/2009 19:35:26 Ive had great speed on the EvE movies ive downloaded with torrents.
Torrents is a great idea, but i guess Chribba is right, if people stop seeding after awhile then its back to EvE-Files server to hand out the movies, wasn't it like that in the first place anyways, i suppose the torrents will just ease the tough times when a great movie is released and everyone wanna download.

Something tells me that when Clear Skies 2 gets released this summer we'll all be damn happy about the torrents
As to answer Chribba's question, major improvement. Massive speed during the more quiet parts of the day, and still very good speed when it's the busiest. Too bad having several torrents seeding = lag in EVE, or i'd seed more

The new torrent thing works like a charm. Always maxes out my bandwidth (2.5mb/s).

I'm sorry, but I've kind of given up on Eve-files. I only use it now to watch previews of movies.
The stalled connection thing was the initial reason, and torrents are not a good alternative for me.
If it's not on youtube or a WMV, I will probably not watch it.

I was really excited to see the switch to torrents. It works wonderfully. My downloads don't stall randomly now! \o/ I've been getting around 2-3 mb/s. Not my max, but a great deal faster than direct download.

I think the Torrent service is a great addition to the usual download option. Usually I got disconnected downloads, slow downloads, etc. We all have been there.
Now I use Torrent files for each download and I caught myself being dissapointed that for certain smaller video files there was no torrent available.
The speed is very good, usually around 900kb/s while my max is 1100kb/s. And the best of it all, we can all help you for once. I usually leave my torrent running untill I have reached at least a 2:1 ratio.
My thought on the filesize: 25mb+ = torrent. Perhaps this limit is too low to be of any use, but torrents are stable and self checking so no more corrupt downloads.
You might want to think about a building in a ratio system so that all the effort the uploaders put in it will not go unnoticed.
