Me and a few corpies went into a WH the other day, after scanning down a plex, and killing a battleship sleeper. i attempted to salvage its wreck and it came up with its too hard or something to salvage.
So is there anyway to salvage BS sleepers ? do you need t2 salvagers ? or a certain skill ?

Both, probably.
I had a "too hard" message with Salvaging III, and my corpmate salvaget it without problems with Salvaging IV

Edited by: Wet Ferret on 03/04/2009 13:05:57 You don't need T2, you just need Salvaging V, though in that case you might as well use T2
Oh and it's only certain sleeper BS that need skill lvl V. Intermediate need IV and Basic need III, I think.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

*nods* It might well have yielded somethig nice.
Your salvager by the way, do use T2 salvagers if you can. And Rig The Ship For Salvaging.
Remember that each cycle you fail a salvage you burn away some of the salvage material available. Fail enough cycles and you get the "there was nothing to salvage from this wreck" message.
So while rigs are a pain in the ass, and not cheap either, you will in time save more isk from not losing salvage than you spend in buying the rigs.
With high value salvage that means "Dedicated salvager FTW". Wormholes ate my sig.
They said it was yummy. |

Really?
I'd love it if it was rubbish. Make my life a lot easier.
But it's what I've always been told, by a lot of different people too.
Can you give me a link? I hate propagating bad info. Wormholes ate my sig.

Can't link to something that has never been posted before. I've salvaged since it was added to the game, this is the first time I hear of this. It's rubbish.

you need the same skills to salvage sleepers as to salvage faction spawns.
salvaging level 3 and a salvager, ive salvaged dozens of sleeper BSes in a drake with what i just posted.
They dont drop anything special. their salvage is worth a tad more than normal sleeper loot( looks like a pyramid with the top missing) about the same as normal t2 loot.

Here is a quote from the recent patch notes.
"Updated the difficulty on salvaging sleeper wrecks. Salvaging Sleeper wrecks was too easy."
For the higher difficulty Sleeper BS's you will need Lvl 5 salvaging. I can personally confirm this from a wormhole I ran 2 nights ago.
I was able to hack a lvl 5 site with just lvl 3 hacking though.

Yeah it's BS. I salvaged a wreck for 12 minutes (lol T2 wrecks) and after that many failures still got 12 mil worth of T2 salvage.

Well that's outstanding news!
Folks, you have all just saved me a tiny pile of isk I was planning on buying Yet More salvaging rigs with. (which would apparently have been an utter waste since I don't give a ****ing rat's ass about how long it takes me to salvage that sleeper BS, I only care about not losing salvage)
Thanks! Wormholes ate my sig.

You just have to be patient. I have been with an expedition from my corp for two weeks now in WH (C-3). When we get BS spawns and kill them, some of our guys with lvl 4 salvaging get the "it's too hard" message. When they get that they have been in smaller, traditional salvage boats. I have been salvaging in my Drake with no salvage rigs and lvl 4 salvage. The BS's take me about 8 minutes to salvage, and I pretty much get the same thing everytime. Frigs are one maybe two cycles, Cruisers a few more, BC's take about 20 seconds. But those BS's take a while. It sucks, but you just have to sit there and wait.
