I've read multiple references here to "mining a mission belt for a week."
However, each time I've tried going to bed and mining more of the belt the next day the deadspace has totally vanished. Not just no ore, as if someone had scanned it and mined it out, but no ANYTHING. No whatsit towers, no whatever arrays, no power thingamajigs, nothing of any kind.
I haven't reported the mission complete to the agent. I haven't even been in the agent's system.
Is there a trick to keeping the mission spaces there to be mined all week? Or should mining a mission space be considered like an ice cream cone on a hot day -- eat it NOW or its going to melt?

Not all missions can be mined
Those that can are normally multi-level (more than just the one Gate) like dear old 'Downing the Slavers'; or those where you choose not to activate the 'trigger' like 'Break their will'.
The important point is that you must not 'Complete' the mission. If the mission remains open and has not been marked 'Objective Completed' then it will remain for the full availability of a mission - normally one week.
Pick your mission(s), start them after a dt one day and you can possibly get 8 straight mining sessions.

I suppose that my problem with this then has been one-room missions where the clearing away of all things that would destroy a retriever automatically completed the objective.
Thanks. Sep'Shoni

"Break Their Will" is a great Level 1 mission to mine. You simply need to kill the first rats and leave the repair station alone (the completion trigger) and you can spend the next week mining the mission belt with all the advantages therein if its in a off-the-beaten-path system.
The isk you will gain from the Veld/Scor will more than make up for the bonus reward you will miss. However, having said that, you could make more isk completing the mission and moving on to the next one.
Basically, this is the 'formula' for good mission mining space: ask yourself if you can clear the space without completing the trigger. If yes, than you can have the week to mine if, if no then you will have to get what you can before the next dt.

Hmmm.
I've been mining mornings and missioning later to minimize encounters with ore thieves -- not as many around in the morning hours in the Eastern time zone.
Maybe I should flip that and hope to encounter at least one mineable mission space in a morning's "work". Sep'Shoni

Eastern time zone here as well and the "morning mission routine" has worked for me. This char has just enough pew pew skills to comfortably do lvl2 missions (since I needed Cruiser to fly an Osprey), so I have found a system with lvl1 and 2 agents. Get missions until I get one of the mineable ones and then work the site for a week.
Additionally, I took this character out of Caldari space (crowded). That proved to be very helpful and since I was going to be working with lvl 1 agents for mining and not standing, there was no worry about losing access to high level agents. It happens to be one method that playin gthis game works for me.

Mining mission sites doesn't seem like a high profit-to-time activity; most of the missions I do (level 1s) won't allow barges or exhumers through the gates, and I can't warp directly to asteroids anyway.
Am I missing something?
Also, I'm confused... How do you keep missions sites alive after down time?

got a L2 mission called Blockade. Contained a lot of veld, plagio and pyrox. Cleared out the mobs that was there and started mining. Only to get hit by smartbombs hidden in the roids.
Took some serious damage, which ment I couldnt continue mining those roids. I sure hope that CCP haven't done that to all the roids found in combat missions, as the location I operate out of have their belts pretty much stripped on a daily basis. Not to mention their respawn is low in units. ----------------------------------------------- Recruiting manager. I ran into this the other day, a ton of good sized veld roids and so I bring my retriever over and it tells me i cant bring it in. I was like that's some bologna.

If I bother to mine in a missions I usually do it in the level 4 mission Enemies Abound (1 of 5).
ps: This is a Caldari Mission VS Gallente which destroys your Gallente faction standing.
It contains
1,260,000 Omber (14x 90k-roids) 800,000 Scordite (16x 50k-roids) 350,000 Kernite (14x 25k-roids)
source
The trick to having a mission respawn is to not trigger completion. To avoid completion in Enemies Abound (1 of 5) you leave the Gallente Navy Orion battleship alone.
Once you've warped in and out (to get your hulk) it is really hard to agress the orion, so besides the 3-4 local frigate rats that will appear every 30min you're safe.
I've heard that the acceleration gate might support an Orca, it is a lot of asteroids and unless you plan to mine non-stop between DT's you won't finish the belt alone.

Actuall, you don't even need to kill any rats, they don't spawn until you shoot the station, so, don't shoot the station.
The cargo Delivery missions are considered 'complete' once you get within range of the can, even if you don't pick up the contents the mission will despawn, so make sure you grab the loot.

Unauthorized Military Presence, Level 1 .
This is a fairly good mission for mining, the first room has plenty of Veld, pyro and plag, the rats are easy.
The best part about mining in a mission is being able to jetcan for 1.5 hours straight will almost no chance of can flipping. A hulk with MLU will make short work here, then just find another mineable mission to run at the same time.
As a current bonus the best price offered for Trit in the region is in the same system (no extra hauling).
