Has anyone found that the rewards in the radar sites are rather weak? My group runs frontier sites all the time. Ladars, Magnetometrics, and Radars. What we've found is that we consistantly get a great haul of loot from Magnetometrics, and the ladars are nice and laid back with a decent pull of money.
But these radar sites... we did three frontiers tonight and got a TOTAL of 6 datacores. And a handful of decryptors. Our total loot for three radars (filling jita buy orders) came out to 230 million, while in a single magnetometric we pull out 310 million.
Are other people out there having similar results?

well we had 2 so far. 1 gave us 6 datacores. the other gave us a ton of crap. havnt seen a magnetic yet but too soon to tell yet, going to take a couple months to see what respawn rates are, and if drops really have gone down

I think what you are experiencing is simply market forces in action. We have run quite a few radars in w-space, they normally net us between 100-200M including the sleeper loots. However, all the box items can be found in radar sites from empire to nullsec - in other words no w-space specific items (none dropped yet anyway). The fullerites (and artifacts as far as i am aware) are w-space specific and required for t3 production. Therefore they will command a higher price as they can only be sourced from us wormhole monkeys. We have sold several 'Wrecked Hull Sections' from the few magneto sites we've had for 250M each. Which on it's own is worth more than any radar site we have found yet in our class 3 system.
So radars as far as I can see will always be 'nice little earners' but not in the same league as the Magnetos. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing. Magnetos in k-space aren't worth a damn generally so it's about time this mini-profession had a chance to shine.

As far as I know that's true.
IME class 3 w space radar sites net about 250 to 300M with the occasional salvage can with ancient relics which can make it much more worthwhile.

Edited by: Chigger Troutslayer on 08/04/2009 19:14:11 Dont forget to salvage Talocan Cruisers and such... Got a malfunctioning and wrecked hull from one we did (frontier site)
Edit: Not sure maybe that was a Mag... but I also remember getting a bunch of ancient relic for a Radar.

Yeah the drop rates on Frontier Radars are completely screwed up. You get twice to three times as many decryptors and RAM as you do datacores. However, for each RE job you use 3 datacores and only one each of RAM and decryptors. Skews the market making decryptors and RAM worthless and datacores massively overpriced. Brilliant!

^ +1 These ^ My bad chaps , please ignore my previous ill-informed ramblings. Sounds like you have just had some bad luck with radars so far.

Hm. Depends. Most in the Frontier range is rather week. I've found you can get lucky though. A C3 system Radar site spat out about 10 decryptors, 15 datacores and enough RAM to choke several live human babies the other day.
And then on the other hand, we had a Talocan Battleship in our C6 wormhole too, dropping an Intact Hull Fragment, approximate market value 950m-1.1b. Yes, I know the battleship is a Salvage item, and yes we did find it in a Radar site. Freaky huh? Ironic, because the rest of the Radar site's loot was pretty mediocre, despite taking a dozen RR battleships to tank the site.
In summation, it varies a lot. A whole damned lot.
