Attacking them will be next to impossible. Why? For the following reasons:
1) Sentry guns are on the server and therefore won't be affected by lag issues. 2) The home team can lag out their system with ships and not break the rules (according to previous comments). Here is how;
Corp gets twenty people in station ready with Ibis's. All leave station eject and re-dock. repeat and rinse. 5 trips each and you get 100 ships floating around the station..... so what can be done to stop it? Well, nothing.
The other thing that worries me is that when a station goes (read: blows up) it's gonna go with one hell of a bang right? The blast radius of something that size has to do damage for upto 20-50km just cos of its size. So half if CCP are to keep it real, then that means that half the attacking fleet will also suffer massive damages.
3) Defending fleet can use docking/undocking to repair ships - and if they're all in cruisers, and have good fire power, your close range ships are gonna have the crap blown out fo them.
So.. simple, we use missiles right? Well.. no
4) Defending fleet will most likely have a vast supply of defender missiles/smartbombs to protect against the incomming torps and missiles.
So, before you think attacking a station will be fun.... think about.

You just attack when they sleep. And they will have nothing left, no ships etc when they wake up.

Well...Waiting for implementation before testing...Anyway that'll be cool only for Crops, but for us, freelancers :/ I doubt... (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

I don't understand why would you want to attack player built station.
I personally would be very happy for everyone that build one.
I would also like to see at least one in each of Eve systems.
Sure its easier to destroy someones hard work but in long run it leads to nowhere.
Everyone is gonna jump that bandwagon and soon nobody will try to do anything serious in this game and it will be end of game.
End is closer than you think.

Blast radius is a nice effect. Just pull back the fleet when its near to that critical moment and long range barrage it.
The fact players could repair their ships from within their station is moot and a benefit to the owner for the defense of that investment.
The launch flood is the only thing worthy to consider.

I recall the devs saying somewhere, that you won't be able to destroy player built stations, but the victors will gain control of the station.
How exactly this will work I have no idea, but capturing an enemy installation would be of much more strategic value than just blowing it up IMO.

Well i remember something in beta about Marine Troops or something (maybe i was dreaming). But large ships will be able to carry them and launch them into the station. These marines then take over the station from inside, but i've heard nothing since beta

The instant repait is quite a huge advantage IMO, though. There should be a delay build it, so it's only repairing slowly, 250 hull in a minute for example.
Another thing is the instand shield and cap recharge, which is a far bigger problem IMO. The defenders just hjave to dock once their cap/shields are down, undock and are full again, therefore more or less invincible.

The lagging with ibises is a problem. I hope they find a solution.
But the explosion range?? You *****!!! Sorry but you want to destroy what 100+ ppl worked for weeks and whine about getting damaged? It's not like you couldn't shoot from greater distances man! You don't think you will go kill stations in a cruiser don't you?
It's very important that stations are very hard to destroy. They are a lot harder to build than to destroy for sure so...

This is not a problem, it¦s the advantage of the defending fleet. As the attacker you can work against this advantage by bringing supportships with remote shield- and capacitor-recharge arrays. There¦s no problem without a solution in this game.
