Since the Falcon is "Being delt with" it's time to choose a new whine topic. I have seen threads asking for more nano nerf and nerf to RR gangs but my personal suggestion is cloaking.
Since one very cheap module with very low skill requirements and low fitting requirements can currently be used to make any ship in the game (aside from freighter, jump freighter and shuttle) completely disappear with no chance whatsoever of being found unless you have a very good idea of exactly where they cloaked, this seems like a good place to start whining for a nerf.
My suggestions: (note, all of these suggestions are for the NON-Covert Ops Cloaks and do not apply to the BOps since they are a problem of their own.) 1) Multi slot modual. Cloaks now use 1 high, 1 mid and 1 low slot thus further gimping the setup.
2) Scaling fitting requirements. Fitting is based on mass thus a frigate might be able to get away with one and even a cruiser but any other ship would severely gimp their CPU output and thus, their setup.
3) Allowing a single cloak to only cloak a certain mass. Thus, to cloak a Raven you might need 6 cloaking devices etc. Thus, cloaking ratters are no longer viable and cloaking caps in impossible but other ships could benefit from it if they sacrifice their fitting.
4) Cap use on cloaks. Cloaks require x amount of cap every 10 seconds and cap recharge on a ship is 0 while cloaked. Make x calculated from the mass of the ship such that a ship has only a limited time which it can cloak for. A titan for instance would blow it's entire capacitor in 30 seconds or so because its mass is so high. A carrier might last a minute and so on.
5) Change the mechanic. Cloaks still prevent activating mods, you can see the ship on overview and scanner but the sig radius of the ship is reduced by 90% and it is immune to all electronic warfare. Note, the ship still cannot warp while cloaking or for 10 seconds after the device has deactivated. Cloaking effect is not lost if you move within 2km of something..
Haven't thought about the last one much but it sounds fun.
Any further suggestions? sXe |

I have a SPLENDID suggestion, and I'll list it in three parts:
1. Bend over. 2. Cram your head up your own anus. 3. Quit looking for something new to whine about and get back to playing the game.
Simple enough for you?

I guess you didn't notice the penalties on cloaks already. You know the ones that are in effect even when they're offline?
It's like a WCS that doesn't let you escape if someone engages you. But instead, helps you avoid being engaged! ie: it's fine.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Edited by: Leobon on 06/04/2009 06:13:59 The only thing is could suggest that might work is........
Make probes that find cloaked ships that are non-covops, non-recon, and non-black opps. In my opinion any thing outside these ship classes shouldnt eve be able to fit a cloak of any kind.
OR
Give a 15 min cloak on any thing that isnt covops, recon, and black ops.
Both of these negate cloaking BS ratters and AFK cloakers.

You know it. Damm cloaking Ravens gettin' me down. Don't even get me started on the log off mechanics.

The scan res penalty is not applied when the cloak in off-line. Undock and test it. Thanks for stopping by though. sXe |

You can't stop cloaking. It will only lead to ctrl+q
Guys all this whinner don't want just pvp .. They want pvp in easy mode. This is absurd.
And from CCP side this is like dealing with terrorist , every time they cave in , they are finding a new thing (or creating) and whine about...
Though we have real issues in the game atm...
Motherships , Blackops , POS warfare , funny module activation bug in lag situations which u can by pass if u click the right button in screen?!? , pod's warp tunnel in different angle, very small overheat toggles etc etc..

To the op, why is it you think this is necessary?
If there is anything to whine about it isn't nerfing anything else in game.
IMHO un-nerf the damned NOS! I miss my nos, please ccp bring it back.

Primarily because of cloaking titans. In fact, solely because of cloaking titans.
I'll test out the cloak thing though I've tested it before. If I'm wrong, then my apologies. Fixed the title too since the attempt at humour went terribly. sXe |

That can't be right. A dev stated just the other day that he believed nerfing pvp probing into oblivion was a nerf on cloaks (in that it encouraged people not to bother using cloaks anymore). I guess according to CCP cloaking farmers is a thing of the past! http://www.ezy-english.com/ |

FFS! Stop whining just for the sake of having something to whine about. Cloaks are fine. leave them be. Leave the 'NERF XXXX' threads to things which actually need changing instead of just breaking game mechanics that work perfectly well atm. Such as reworking POS's and sov mechanics. Or getting BO's ships working properly with fuel bay and all. Or changing 0.0 local so its delayed like WH local is.
Ever heard of the saying, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!' ?
Seriously though. WTF is suggestion number 5 about? Having a cloak that still shows your ship up on overview?? What have you been smoking? and can i have some?

This has to be some of the most ridicilous suggestions ever recorded on any thread, ever You're about 5 days late dude.
Tell you what, if you wanna change the cloak, the go support the old proposal that said cloaks on non-native cloakers would require fuel, not much, but a little. Meaning you couln't sit cloaked in a system months to end, but a full day was still possible. Now that's a change that actually makes sense. Sort of. Ish.

What cloaks need:
Maybe they should have a really steep velocity penalty and gimp your scan res and like... when you decloak you shouldn't be able to lock onto stuff for ages

lets do the same to MWD too. all ships can use them eventho interceptors specialize in them.
Only thing i agree is cloaks could use cap... and prevent caprecharge.

The only problem I see with cloaking is the ability to hang around enemy controlled space for long periods of time, afk for all you care.
I wouldn't mind some kind of probe, pherhaps a POS installation with a sov requirement, that allows you to scan the entire system for cloaked ships. It should take a few hours to complete though. Just enough to catch anyone cloaking carelessly.

Indeed, a POS scanner kind of device, that takes about an hour to scan a system and gives a warning to everyone in the system that such a scanner is in operation. But in return, it'll scan down cloakers as well.
Any active cloakers in the system would have about 60 minutes to get out of the system, or they could relocate just as the scan is about to complete. But an AFK cloaker will summarily get blobbed.

As someone who fits a cloak on pretty much ANY ship that has a free slot for it, I agree that they are very powerful, but at the same time they are often quite neccessary for survival or to save yourself from extreme boredom or rampant ctrl-qing. A slight nerf might be in order, but nothing that changes how they work too drastically. What I am thinking of atm is cloaks requiring some sort of decaying charges like laser crystals, and those charges being a huge volume so you can't carry too many. Make the time one charge can last dependant on the ships mass, and make a ship immobile while the charge is being reloaded, and have the time to reload it be a significant amount that should maybe also depend on the ship mass. This would definitely nerf cloaking NPCer Ravens, and reasonably nerf the use of cloaks in PvP. And provide some risk to 23/7 afk cloaking alts assuming this is also applied to covert cloaks, which I am not sure whether it should or not. And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...
